A program schedule coincidence. Within both of this weekend's "A" programs, the J. Geils Band debuts: *5/26/73 -- Give It To Me *5/24/80 -- Love Stinks
Also appearing on both surveys -- The Doobie Brothers, Elton John, Billy Preston, Spinners and Paul McCartney.

The Doobie Brothers were not on the 1980 show, nor was Michael McDonald solo (though he was heard singing back-up on a few of the songs). EDIT: Nevermind - their song "Dependin' On You" was a LDD on the show.

Just hearing Casey utter the name of The band's harmonica player on the '73 show was classic. The one and only Magic Dick!

Casey's story on the 5/17/75 show about the Hey Jude album debuting at #3 on the Billboard LP chart omitted one important fact---it didn't go to #1! It moved up to #2 the next week and stayed there the week after that. Led Zeppelin III and Physical Graffiti did hit the top.

That would have been perfect for a question letter to Casey - What album debuted the highest on the Billboard album chart without hitting #1 at all?

The last of Capitol's 'money grabs' where the Beatles were concerned. The label had been creating 'extra' Beatles albums ever since "The Beatles' Second Album" was released by the label in the spring of '64. In this case, the "Hey Jude" LP was a collection of non-LP Capitol singles, both 'A' and 'B' sides, including the title track. It went back as far as '64's "Can't Buy Me Love" and as recent as the previous year's "Ballad Of John and Yoko"/"Old Brown Shoe".

Speaking of The Beatles,1976 saw the release of a two record set by Capitol called "Rock & Roll Music"-One of the tracks "Got To Get You Into My Life" originally appeared on the 1966 album "Revolver"-It was released as a single & reached the top ten that summer.

He's no relation to Andy, or to Tim Allen (birth name Timothy Allen Dick), BTW...

I am going to listen to 05/22/76 today on WPAC "On Demand". They are giving 3 hours and 5 minutes again this week and they will need it as AT40 didn't kick in until about 5:40 (5m & 40s) into the broadcast.

I really enjoyed the 73 show on WXXM, home of the 8 minute commercials. I liked the reverb Casey just right before Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein". I read Mary Shelley's book back in college. The book is so much better than what films have portrayed over the years.

The third optional extra on the 5/22/76 countdown was "Saturday Night" by The Bay City Rollers-It was played as a tribute to member Les Mc Keown who recently passed away.
