Darn. I wish I had caught this earlier. I could have recorded the parts I missed.

Something seems amiss about this web page -- it says 1971 and 1980. However, 5/24/80 is the show for this coming weekend and we know that 1971 is not one of the shows for the 70's. If it is 1971, that would mean a fourth 1971 show already in 2021...

Something seems amiss about this web page -- it says 1971 and 1980. You could be on to something. I actually thought that the Memorial Day weekend show would be from 5/27/1972. Another time when WKIX was two weeks ahead: 2021/02/15 › casey-kasem-... It's the Original American Top 40 with Casey Kasem, featuring hits from 1972 and 1983! Presented by Rolesville Furniture. With their President's Day Sale ... The shows were from 1971 and 1980 the weekend of February 27.

The 'B' show has to be 5/26/79 from 2018?? That has to be the only option. There's no way they would do 1978 again right? And 1977 would be coming back on short rest. Though 1971 would also be coming back on short rest, just four weeks after it was a B. 1979 was then the A, so maybe this would be the third month in a row of those two years being paired. I think a 1975 B to a 1971 A still makes sense even if 1975 A's now need B's, but likely not just two weeks after an A from that year. And 1978 is almost due to be played by itself; it hasn't been since March, and if we do get the 5/29/71 A then 1978 will be the year not featured as an A in longest. We've only had one June 1978 standalone since 2016.

mga707 - You and I are the same age, I graduated in 76 as well. 😄 However, my high school didn’t have a freshman class. We attended junior high through 9th grade and started high school as sophomores.

The 5/22/76 show features Jimmy Dean's spoken word piece "IOU"-If that doesn't make you cry, there's something wrong.

Prediction for next week's show:
1st Guess - 5/27/72 2nd Guess - 5/29/71
If the WKIX website is correct to some degree, then 1971 might be on tap for next week. 1972 would make more sense since there have only been two '72 shows so far this year, whereas 1971 has had three--one of which was the year-end special. That being said, it's been longer since 1971 has been aired as an 'A' show. Flip a coin maybe?

Neither one of these shows has debuted in mono2stereo by Ken, so either would be a great choice. 6/3/72 has not debuted in stereo either, could we get back to back 1971-1972 'A' shows over the next 2 weeks? unlikely I guess, but it did happen back in July 2016. Let's not forget 2021 is the 50th anniversary of the shows from 1971. If any year deserves some special attention this year, it should be 1971.
