Here's what I came up with. 1984 is an enigma. They went the last 3 months of 2011 without playing a show from it. Now they are threatening to go another 3 months between shows from that year. I say the drought ends. I also say the 1971 drought ends on SXM but am going for another 1975 show for the 70s. Not featured as much as last year even with this show being played.
80s....4/7/84 70s....4/12/75 SXM....4/3/71

I am going to assume that Premiere made a switch for this week only and will continue with whatever schedule they had for at least next week. Whenever the next 1978 show was scheduled will be when it may change. So that means I think 1979 will be played next week. And I think the show Premiere should have played this week from 1978 will be played by SXM next week. And it will be a late in the decade trifecta and another 3 years later for the 80s (as it was this week in the 80s)as a result of the 80s show I predicted.....
80s.........4/18/87 70s.........4/14/79 SXM.........4/15/78

Here we go for the weekend of April 14, 2012:
80's: 4/17/82 - it's practically a toss-up among 3 years this week, but we'll go with '82 70's: 4/14/79 - first 4-hour 70's show played on Premiere's AT40 the 70's series?? (not counting the Disco Special in '07) SXM: 4/12/75 - if you remember, this was the show originally on SXM's schedule a year ago until they made the last minute switch to Magic Matt's fake 4/11/70 show instead

Lots of activity on the boards last week, as this thread got bumped to page 2...here goes for the weekend of April 21st:
80's - 4/24/82 70's - 4/22/72 SXM - 4/17/71
So essentially I am saying that SXM will piggyback on Premiere this week. If Premiere doesn't play '72, I am guessing they would repeat the 4/19/75 show, originally aired in 2009. I am a little surprised that we haven't heard a 1971 show from SXM yet, since they seem to be slightly partial to the early 70's.
As for the 80's, I have guesses ready for the next 3 weekends...but we'll see if it pans out the way I am thinking.

The other 2 predictors have 1982 for the 80s and 1971 for SXM which I agree with. The question is do I like wahoo's prediction of 1972 for the 70s or LVkid's prediction for 1975. Either way I am going to match someone's predictions.........
80s.....4/24/82 70s.....4/19/75 SXM....4/17/71
Oh I forgot for a minute that I got 2 out of 3 last week. Well it's looks like or all or nothing for the 3 of us next week based on our similar predictions. So if it's all, at least one trifecta seems to be in order.
And a bonus prediction that franky will get an assist on. I think all 4 Blondie #1 songs will be played in a show when they were #1 this year. The 1/31/81 show with "The Tide is High" and the 3/28/81 show with "Rapture" were played already. The 4/28/79 show with "Heart of Glass" at #1 is to be played at the end of the month. And the only one remaining is a 1980 show with "Call Me" at the top. The are due for a 1980 show and they have until the end of May to play a show with that song on top.

Well dukedeb--not to give away my prediction for the weekend of April 28th, but...if my guess for the 80's show that weekend is correct, it would fulfill your prediction with regard to Blondie's #1's.

Here goes for the weekend of April 28th:
80's: 4/26/80 70's: 4/28/79 (okay okay--this one doesn't count as a prediction) SXM: 4/24/76
We're in the midst of a 3-week stretch where I'm reasonably confident as to what the 80's show will be. The SXM show is a little more of a crap shoot, but they would certainly be due for a 1976 show if they go late 70's next week. If they go early 70's--1973 is long overdue, but 4/28/73 was aired two years ago so it's probably not likely.
As for the Premiere 70's show--well, the real suspense will be which stations play that optional 1st hour.

BTW, what is it with 4/10 and 4/17/71? The last 2 years the 2 series have alternated playing both shows. Anyway, a trifecta for me last time. No trifecta possible this time since one show is already known. It's the 80s show that is interesting. They are in position to finish the cycle of playing a new show from all 9 years the last 9 weeks but will they? You see, Premiere has never played 1979 and 80 in the same week. And in this case, the same artist would be at #1. That has only happened once before, on the first weekend of June 2010 when the 70s series featured "Sir Duke" and the 80s series had "Ebony and Ivory" on top. So I don't think all of that will happen this time in part because I think Premiere likes to have at least a couple years between the shows on any given weekend.............
80s........4/27/85 SXM........4/26/75 (another piggyback)

I will guess that Premiere will play 4/30/83 the following weekend.

Here goes for the first weekend in May...
80's: 5/4/85 70's: 5/6/72 SXM: 5/1/76
If the Premiere 70's show is in fact the 1972 show, it would be a repeat that was last aired in 2009. If it's not another repeat, then I would go with 5/7/77. I am curious to see if either Premiere or SXM would do something completely out of the ordinary and air the 3/25/72 show in honor of Dick Clark's passing. Guessing it won't happen, but would be cool if it did.

Casey lite: 1987 70s: 1973 80s: 1985 SXM: 1979 Premiere probably won't play 1973 since they aired the 5/5/73 show a year ago...

SXM is definitely the toughest to pick this week. A piggyback is possible but playing 1973 for the first time since Jan. is not too likely. They have many shows in this period that they have yet to play. 70s series I am predicting the show SXM played last year. And the 80s series should continue the streak of first time shows.............
80s......5/4/85 70s......5/7/77 SXM.....5/1/76

It'll be interesting to see if next weekend's 70s program from Premiere turns out to be the AT40 show dated May 6, 1972, as a follow-up on some stations to this week's last minute Dick Clark addition. If that's possible, how many of the same songs would we hear two weeks in a row?

If that's possible, how many of the same songs would we hear two weeks in a row? I counted 12 songs that were in both the 3/25 and 5/6/72 top 40s, not including potential optional extras. 5/6/72 was previously played by Premiere in 2009, however, so they might want to wait on that year for at least another week (they haven't yet aired 5/13/72.)
