Hey I couldn't resist. I had just learned that Casey made such a comment a couple times in 1973 so thought I would try to be cute. Of course if I was as good at predicting as you....................

1971 has already been announced for SXM, so as a randomly uneducated guess, I'll say 6/12/1976 and 6/12/1982 for the June 9-10, 2012 weekend.

OK so, Pete's hint helped us narrow down a list of about 6 possible years in the 80's to 4 last week, of which two ('85 and '87) floated to the top. This time around, there shouldn't be any hints necessary...here goes for the weekend of June 16th:
80's - 6/18/83 70's - 6/17/72 SXM - 6/18/77
Premiere 70's...well if they wanted to hit each year 3 times in the first half of 2012, they will need to play '72, '73, and '79 each one more time. A '79 show in June should be a given, but I'm holding off until the following weekend. June 16, 1973 is a sub show, so that leaves 1972. Add to it that SXM and Premiere seem to be playing each other's shows from 2011 lately...and 6/17/72 was played by SXM last year.
As for SXM, well my gut tells me a '75 show since the last one we heard was 3/8/75, but...I will go against my gut and say they go with '77.

Even when I don't officially predict so I won't get any wrong I got one wrong. Because based on Pete's clue, I got the 80s show wrong! I have been thinking they will play 6/16/79 for several weeks....since the last 1979 show in fact...so not gonna change now. The other series have long droughts going so will choose those 2 years for those series.
80s....6/18/83 70s....6/16/79 SXM....6/14/75

Well, it was in fact a slam dunk for the 80s show this coming weekend. And if my thinking is correct, next week's 80s show should be another easy one to guess. As for the 70s, I erred in my count of shows--1976 had also only been played twice until this coming weekend...so, with that, here goes for the weekend of June 23rd:
80s - 6/20/87 70s - 6/23/79 SXM - 6/21/75
I also know what my guesses for the Premiere shows will be the weekend of June 30th...but I'll wait until next week to disclose those.

Another one out of three for me. Seems like I have been batting .333 at this for half of my adult life. Anyway, I think SXM changed up on their schedule to a tribute show this week but I should have known that. The question remains whether that changes their upcoming schedule or not. Without an answer, predictions are a crapshoot. The other issue to look at is how Premiere seems to be waiting until the last minute to play months for the first time. They waited until the last week of April to play an April 1979 show and then played the last available show from May 1984 for that month's first show. So I am guessing that the pattern will hold for June 1979 which has not been played yet either. Meaning they will air the 6/30/79 show. I will not go the route of my man wahoo who predicted 6/23/73 next week because correct me if I am wrong; but I don't think any series has played a show that aired in 2010 (as that one was) this year. And the 80s prediction is a little tricky because a regular show from July 1987 has not been played either. But I will predict an 87 show because they are still in line to play the last possible show from that month too (7/25/87) since that could be 5 weeks hence. Not too confident about that however since 1988 is still in the mix during that time.
80s.....6/20/87 70s.....6/24/72 SXM.....6/21/75

Premiere did air the 5/11/1974 show earlier this year. It was also played in 2010.

Well history appears to have repeated itself in the predictions category. Last year, I predicted a show and then franky said it was played the year before so I changed my prediction only to have that show played after all on SXM. Now wahoo predicted a show then I said it was played 2 years ago so he changed his prediction and Premiere is playing the 6/23/73 show after all. Moral of the story, your first intuition is usually the right one.....lol
And my first intuition on next weeks' shows is that we will get that first ever show from June 1979 on Premiere but not the 1979-80 combo that we got in April. Which BTW I also doubted would happen but it did! Might not want to pay much attention to my prognostications....lol
80s.......6/26/82 70s.......6/30/79 SXM.......6/30/73

OK, so I should have stuck with my original prediction of 6/23/73 before...even though there is NO WAY I would have consciously chosen a show that was last played in 2010. A number of strange choices of shows this year on the Premiere 70's series.
As for the 80's, everything there has made much more sense. We are down to the final week of the first half of 2012, and there are two years that have yet to be played 3 times so far: 1980 and 1982. So here goes for the weekend of June 30th:
80's - 6/28/80 70's - 6/30/79 SXM - 6/30/73
For the 80's, I am going with a repeat of the 6/28/80 show since Premiere will almost have to wait until August to air a 1980 show if they don't do it this weekend. And would seem like another 1979 show would be in the cards after a couple months. As for SXM...well they haven't completely ignored any years in particular so far (though it was beginning to look that way with 1975), but six of the nine years they have only only twice so far, while two others have been aired 4 times...once again it's tough to tell with them.

Curious to know why you think that Premiere would almost have to wait until August to play a 1980 countdown.
TIA, from a newbie.

Curious to know why you think that Premiere would almost have to wait until August to play a 1980 countdown. TIA, from a newbie. Well, here's my theory on that: of the four July 1980 shows, one is a special (7/5/80), one has been aired twice (7/12/80), 7/19/80 was aired in 2010, and 7/26/80 was aired last year. Unless Premiere completely breaks some of their unwritten rules for choosing shows (in the 80's series at least--the 70's is much more unpredictable lately), a July 1980 show would be pretty unlikely. They could air 7/12/80 for a 3rd time, but there are only 3 or 4 shows that have been aired 3 times and the last time it happened was in 2009. I would say there would be no chance of hearing a show that last aired in 2010, but this week they decided to air 6/23/73, which goes against that theory (but again that was in the 70's series). There really would seem to be no chance that a show aired last year would be repeated (hasn't happened since 2009). The 6/28/80 show was last aired in 2009, so it would be "playable" again this year. Otherwise the next unplayed 1980 show likely to be aired would be 8/2/80. Long story short--there's my logic. BTW--welcome to the boards!

Might as well add my 2 cents since I am one of the regular predictors. I am thinking of all the 1980 shows between now and the end of July, the 7/12/80 show is the most likely to be played since it was last played in 2008 whereas all the other shows have been played more recently. Premiere seems to treat shows played in 2007 and 8 as if they have never been played before seeing as how those shows are played as much as shows that have never aired. Needless to say, a lot of us were not listening to shows back then so in essence, there is no difference between a show aired back then and a show that has never been aired.
Confused yet?....lol

I think it is rather obvious that Premiere and by extension SXM, do not have all the shows available (besides the second show). So in light of that, I am not going to go through this charade of predicting shows anymore. To think they are going to go 3 months between 1979 shows when they are still WAY behind in shows played that year because they did not start playing shows from that year until late 2010 is startling to say the least. And that is why I say it is obvious that they don't have all the shows at their disposal. Which is too bad especially when you consider the historic chart week presented in the show from 6/30/79.
