Each Sunday morning at 9 AM Eastern The Oldies Collection from Milford, CT. airs The Ultimate Oldies Countdown with host Bob Mathers. Like AT40 Bob counts down the top 40 songs each week from Cashbox magazine from a matching week we are in top 40 history. Also there will be added songs to the countdown as extras depending on the length of songs on the main show. On the 60s shows there are many. The show repeats later in the afternoon (around 4:30 to 5:00 PM) On 11/14/2010 we counted down the songs from 11/13/1971. I will try to update this every week. The Oldies Collection is a 24/7 all music station since 2000 that airs those hard to find oldies from the 50s through the 80s as well as the biggest hits. We also feature Crap From The Past and The Friday Night Cat Fight Show and Clarke Davis ongoing salute to all records released in 1963. The website is www.theoldiescollection.com11/21/2010 show will be from 11/19/1960.

mrjukebox: Have to check that show out this weekend. This show is not availble to internet stations, which is mine or else I would carry it too.
This weekend's Ultimate Oldies Countdown takes you way, way back to 11/26/1959 this Sunday at 9 AM. Guarenteed this show will have about 25-30 songs that are no longer heard on todays stations.

Pandy, I'm glad you posted a link to the Ultimate Oldies Countdown on the '70s board. I didn't know about this countdown and am listening right now to April 1970 (Sunday, 11 am EST). A few questions - Will this repeat later today and when exactly? This top 40 based on Cashbox magazine, right? Is there a new show every Sunday, and when will the date of the show be posted on this board (e.g. is it a week in advance? Is it even on this board at all?) Whoever puts these countdowns together (is it you?), can you do a lot more from Jan '70 to June '70, the only 6 month period of the '70s not covered by AT40?

Thanks edisonite for your interest in the coundown. To answer your question one at a time. I do repeat the show in the afternoon between 4:30 and 5:00. I cannot give the same time each week because we run different shows of varing time lengths. I try to keep it within the 430-5 time frame. The Ultimate Oldies Countdown is now based on Billboard charts. Last two years it was based on Cashbox. So far we have been running new shows for 2011. If we do not received a new show by late Friday then we have an two year archive of shows in my library that we can select and post. The Ultimate Oldies Countdown does repeat the same year every 12-13 weeks, which is common for the 60's decade. For the 50's and 70's decade it is once in a great while that I get them. I believe there are 5-6 shows that he has done that I have on file for Jan-Jun 1970 in the last three years. The last 1970 show that was aired was on 2/20/11.

Yes, they do post the last three shows there and was recently updated after a hiatus of a couple of months. The shows that I get are from their ftp server and are posted every Thursday or Friday. I recieved 4/24/1965 show at 3 AM this morning that we will air this Sunday at 9:00 AM Eastern. It is about time for a 1965 show, first time for 2011. For those who want to hear a repeat, it will air again around 4:45 PM Eastern

Hey pandy, how did the 4-24-65 show go? I did that one as well, I record about a month in advance now, so I had forgotten it until I saw that post just now. What kind of extras did they do?

Sorry, I did not reply soon. The 10 or 11 extras are picked by me. I cannot remember them now, but they are usually the songs that fell off the top 40 or new entries that entered the hot 100 the week or two after. The show as well went well.

This Sunday's show (8/7/2011) will be the top 40 from August 5, 1972 which is within the American Top 40 range. We only have 9 extra songs placed in the show including a ten minute rock track near the end of hour 1. Also we have added a #1 album track near the end of hour 3 which we have been doing for the last month.

This Sunday (8/14) our trip back to the top 40 archives continues with a countdown from August 10, 1968. We have 10 extra songs that are placed in the commercial breaks (to time the show as close to 3 hours) including some rock tracks. Sorry, I had to use the short version of "In A Godda-Da-Vida". I wanted to use the long one.

You should have made a shortened long version like I have in my archives. It runs close to 8 min.

You should have made a shortened long version like I have in my archives. It runs close to 8 min. I used the 7 minute version of "Light My Fire" by the Doors off which bought the show to 3:01 even after I played 10 extras instead of 11.

This weekend's show is from August 21, 1971. A show that as far as I have been listening got neglected from Premiere because of the Tom Clay song. Even though I was told in the past that it was aired. "What The Wold Needs Now Is Love" will be played in the show for the first time in my stations 11 year history.

Am listening to this show. At least SOMEONE is doing a show from 1971. Are you paying attention Premiere and Sirius? Must be using Cashbox because they referenced Back Up Train by Al Green just making the top 40. It did not do so on Billboard. No biggie there.
Hey briguy, here you go!
