WCRZ Flint MI is, as I type, playing last week's show (8/8/87). Don't know if this is a glitch/error repeat or if for some reason the show is now playing a week behind, but would be one to watch. Good catch, dougbroda. I listened to the show and #26 to #24 were dropped. WCRZ finished #27 "drive" went to commercial. When the show came back it was #28 "doin' it all for my baby" #27 "something so strong" #26 "hearts on fire" #25 "living in a box" went to commercial. Back on the 1984 show with #23 "let's go crazy". Wait, was it just the one segment from last week where that happened? That's actually not the first time that's happened, nor even the first time involving both '84 and '87 shows. Last year, they played a segment from 4/7/84 on the week that 4/18/87 aired, in the middle of the Top 10. That week, they also cut off the final two - so, Flint listeners didn't get to hear the Queen of Soul return to the top after 20+ years. Admittedly, I didn't catch last night's because I didn't listen at all last night. I caught the show earlier in the day, and, not being as much of a fan of August '84, decided that was good enough.

Just a heads up to those recording off CKUL. Rumors in the market in Halifax this evening that the station is changing format on monday, maybe towards a CHR/current top 40 format, leaning towards a younger demo. This is likely the last weekend for the AT 40 70s/80s on CKUL.

Rumors in the market in Halifax this evening that the station is changing format on monday, maybe towards a CHR/current top 40 format, leaning towards a younger demo. This is likely the last weekend for the AT 40 70s/80s on CKUL. If the rumors are true, I'm worried CKUL could become the same fate as 92.3 Fred FM when they changed their format to CHR/Top 40 and became the New Hot 92.3. Now it's mostly the same songs over and over again on CFRK-FM. At least CIHI-FM 93.1 is better... but no Casey Kasem yet. Edit: The rumors are true - Kool 96.5 has become Radio 965 - Music First. The response has been negative and many people don't like the change. Why change the format and lose AT40? Oh well...

I don't like to do this, but unfortunately CKUL changed their format, so I guess we'll have to drop AT40 the 70s and 80s in Halifax.

It looks like it's good news and bad news for WSEN. The bad news is they've dropped the 70's show. However, the good news is that they air the 80's show twice on Sundays, first from 8 AM to Noon Eastern, then from 7- 11 PM Eastern.

Guess I'll be recording Password Plus on GSN every Sunday from now on. KOOL-FM changed their format to more modern music, it seems. Sad, but true. But all I can say is, it was a wonderful ride, having to look forward to hearing Casey's voice on Sunday mornings for nearly a year. I certainly hope somebody can send me the full 8/30/1986 broadcast in one clip.

snarfdude quoted this on AT40 - 70s Stations List:
"Don't count out Halifax yet. In a brilliant move by a competing broadcaster, the old HAL FM 89.9 FM, calls are CHNS (which I used to work with many years ago) flipped in less then a week to a format comparable to CKUL, called "the wave" A lot of former listeners are making the switch and asking for AT 40. I'm told on good authority that it WILL be back...not sure when though. The station runs a 32kbps stream, so quality isn't too great.
Website is:
899thewave.fm/"
Should also apply to the 80s as well. I'll know (and everyone else) when this station will carry AT40.

Thanks for the replacement link for CKDK - I updated the link on the station's information. Also, changed the start time from 8 am to 9 am for CKDK. I think that CKDK may have dropped the show. It is not airing right now, and the link above is no longer available...
