The final one is May 18, 1974, that one closes 24 hours of marathon.

It seems the last show has missed the top 2 so far. It is 09.11 CET and the station is returning with , apparently normal music ( Piña Colada song right now). Let´s hope they will finish May 18, 1974 show . The marathon would have ended technically.

This year, it looks like we're getting "#1 Hits of the '70s, Part 4" (provided by Ken Martin) and "The Triathlon of Rock & Roll."

For those who don't know or remember, the "Triathlon of Rock 'n' Roll" was a countdown of the 40 top artists who hit the top 10 in the 1980s after hitting the top 40 in the 1960s and 70s. Originally broadcast on the Fourth of July weekend of 1988, making it the last AT40 special of the original Casey era.

With regards to the latter, is this going to be this year's weekend special alongside whatever regular countdown was offered, much as the Beatles countdown was two years ago?

I believe that the bonus shows are without commercials and can air anytime over the 3-day weekend. One version of 70s and one version of 80s with commercials will also be available to air in their regular time slots.

Because if that's the case, that immediately tells me what the 5/23-24 80s show will be.

^I did see the cue sheets and there was no "A" or "B" on either one, so it's pretty safe to say there will only be one regular show for both 70s and 80s.

Predictions for optional extras for the Triathlon of Rock & Roll special:
Bee Gees - One Beach Boys - Kokomo Pete Townshend - Let My Love Open The Door Pet Shop Boys & Dusty Springfield - What Have I Done To Deserve This?
The first two qualified after the show's air date, and the latter two qualified but missed out on the show. Another possible extra is Larry Graham - One In A Million You due to his previous hits with Sly & the Family Stone and Graham Central Station, or Ben E. King's Stand By Me, which made top 10 on its re-release.

Looks like The Bee Gees have already been included in the countdown.
But if acts like Marty Balin and Cliff Richard made the Top 40, artists bubbling below aren't going to have very big hits that can be played as optionals.
Let me narrow it down: all 4 singers in the optional segments had #1 hits (in R&R at least) in the 80s and 90s. And one of them is a medley of his or her Top 40 hits.

I'm trying to find singers who hit #1 in the 80s and 90s, started hitting the Top 40 in the 70s, and were not included in the special. Now, I have Phil Collins, Prince, and Sting. Is there any other? Or does Premiere include artists that hit in the 80s, 90s, and 00s?

According to Rob Durkee's book, the Triathlon of Rock & Roll consisted of artists who had top 40 hits in 1960s and 1970s & at least one top 40 appearance in 1980s. Based on that criteria, here's a list of artists that qualify but did not make the show:
Elvis Presley The Beatles Ringo Starr The Bee Gees Robin Gibb The Beach Boys The Hollies The Four Tops David Ruffin Eddie Kendricks David Crosby Stephen Stills Tommy James Ben E. King The Isley Brothers Peaches & Herb Burton Cummings Paul Anka Johnny Mathis Mark Andes Dusty Springfield (barely)
So if Premiere was going to be consistent, it would have chosen optional extras from the above list.

^ The Bee Gees essentially made the list through Barry Gibb; the majority of the songs in the medley at #8 are their big hits.

WTOJ / Ken Martin comes through AGAIN ~ from Facebook:
Memorial Day weekend! It's a Magic 103.1 Number 1's weekend! Featuring a special marathon edition of American Top 40. Listen as Casey plays back all the number one songs from 1970 through 1986 in chronological order!
Using thousands of hours of AT40, Magic 103.1 has weaved together a special with the King of the Countdown like you've never heard before. It's a 9 part American Top 40 special and it starts Saturday at 6 AM.
Saturday : 6 AM - Part 1 (1970-1972) 10 AM - Part 2 (1972-1974) 2 PM - Part 3 (1974-1975) Sunday: 6 AM - Part 4 (1975-1976) 10 AM - Part 5 (1976-1978) 2 PM - Part 6 (1978-1979) Monday: 6 AM - Part 7 (1980-1982) 10 AM - Part 8 (1982-1984) 2 PM - Part 9 (1984-1986)
Times are approximate ---------------------------------------- Ken played parts 1-7 last year when Casey passed (Disclosure... I already have a good idea what the extras are, even though most were still voice-over'd by Ken himself). Nice to know that another couple parts are completed!
(Just make sure there's no more funny 'song bleeds' during 'Baby Come Back' on the masters, Ken! ;-) )
