Now playing on the app:
September 14, 1985 September 13, 1997 (captioned as September 15, but 9/15/97 is not a chart date) September 14, 2002
And something else has occurred to me. Rick's 40th anniversary should be coming up somewhere within the next month (if not this or next week). Has there been any mention of that on the present-day shows?

Wasn't the first show Labor Day weekend? So it would have been last week.

Too bad the first Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 show from October 1983 may be lost media and will never get played on the Rick Dees app.

But what about the Jingle Packages that aired in the 90s? I know that JAM Creative Productions did a jingle package for the show that aired in the 80s.

The theme package changed sometime in 1989 and then again on 3/21/92 - and then that lasted at least sometime into the 2000s (through 2004 at least, I think).
The only "hard" date I know for sure is the 92, as I've heard both 3/14 and 3/21.

But was it before the end of 1989 that the opening spiel for the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 spoofing the "Superman" opening narration was dropped by a new opening theme?

What's the last 80's show in rotation? I'm thinking 11/11/1989. So it was after that.

So it was in October 1983 and not September 1983! Interesting "Billboard" blurb on the launch. I wonder what it means by it would debut, "on a barter basis". I have never seen a vinyl of the show before 1/14/84. However listening to that show in January of this year, they did have winners in the weekly contest so I figured syndication had to have happened earlier. I didn't realize that there were already 20 or so stations playing the show before 1/14/84 show. Thanks for the info!

The next show I have is 2/10/1990.

Remember that when the original AT40 with Casey Kasem was launched on July 4-5, 1970 there were only 7 radio stations carrying the show but it grew to more over the next couple of weeks and months.
