KDGL TheEagle1069.com is playing a "Summer's Greatest Hits" show again. The sure shot is "Rock Steady" by the Whispers. #40 is "One for the Mockingbird" by Cutting Crew. It might be 06/27/87 - I am not sure. "Rock Steady" and "One For The Mockingbird" didn't reach the R&R Top 40 chart until July 1987.

"Rock Steady" was also indeed the Sure Shot for 6/27, but that week had a regular countdown. The week before that, he did a "One Shot" (one-hit wonders) special - to the best of my knowledge, aside from year-end countdowns, he never did specials two weeks in a row until he started doing two-part specials mid-way through the 2000s.

Has the Rick Dees app ever featured the 1987 Weekly Top 40 One Hit Wonders countdown special? I bet the "One Shot Sure Shot" in that June 1987 One Shot Countdown was "Kiss Him Goodbye" by the Nylons. And has the Weekly Top 40 year end countdowns 2 parts like AT40 originally did?

Has the Rick Dees app ever featured the 1987 Weekly Top 40 One Hit Wonders countdown special? Most recent time was in 2020. I bet the "One Shot Sure Shot" in that June 1987 One Shot Countdown was "Kiss Him Goodbye" by the Nylons. Nope. It was instead "Fascinated" by Company B (which oddly enough would have been in its last week on the chart with a regular countdown - and contrary to what Rick was hoping, would indeed be a "one shot" for them). And has the Weekly Top 40 year end countdowns 2 parts like AT40 originally did? I don't even understand what you're asking with this question. Rephrase?

I meant "Has the Weekly Top 40 year end countdowns been always 2 parts - First half one week, second half next week?" To the best of my knowledge...1985, 1987, and 1988 no. Those three were just the Top 40 of the year. All other times had a two-part, two-week year-end countdown - aside from 1989 and 1999, when it was instead a decade-end countdown (80s and 90s respectively). 2009 split the difference, with a Top 40 of the year and a Top 40 of the 2000s - and after that point, they've only done a Top 40 of the year ever since. I actually don't know about 2019 for sure - was that year the same as 2009?

Meanwhile, now playing on the app:
June 13, 1987 June 17, 1995 (all-request special) June 10, 2000
1995 has no Sure Shot - the first song played is Nicki French's "Total Eclipse of the Heart". This is also the inbetween week before Rick changed charts to what was probably an affiliate-based chart, with many affiliates based in bigger, Rhythmic-friendlier markets (but because Rick did an all-request, "Let Her Cry" did not get what would otherwise have been its sole week at #1).
And how's this for a twist? 2000 is the only one of these that has been done before (two years ago).
I'm also starting to think that Friday afternoons are now when I should start regularly checking for these...

How do you compare the June 10, 1995 Rick Dees chart to the June 24, 1995 Rick Dees chart after Rick stopped using the R&R CHR/Pop chart source? Though Casey Kasem on Casey's Top 40 would still keep using the R&R CHR/Pop chart source, and several songs making Rick Dees' own chart would miss the R&R Top 40 for the next year and a 1/2 more or less.

Yes. And actually that's quite funny that both the "inbetween week" and the first "rhythmic week", both from 1995, are being done this weekend.

After some further research, I now believe this show is not a "Summer's Greatest Hits" show and is indeed the regular top 40 for 06/27/87. On the 06/27 show the sure shot is "Rock Steady and #40 is "One for the Mockingbird." I have no playlist for the 08/01 show, but according to Reception73, it is a regular countdown, not a special.

Whoever blocked the 1995 special, probably the producer Betsy Chase, did a pretty good job alternating between male and female singers.

Tonight on KKMK: 6/22/2002, for its 6th time.
I was expecting 2001 (6/16) instead of this - so, apparently radio is skipping that week this year. Hmmm...
