On 3/8/97, did Rick really say that Gina G was the lone redhead in the top 10? Apparently he forgot about Geri Halliwell from the Spice Girls.

I would say that maybe he didn't know about Geri (i.e. Ginger Spice, which kind of hints toward the hair colour) but considering how omnipresent the Spice Girls quickly became, that seems implausible. As an aside, the Spice Girls are one of several acts whose music I enjoy now more than when they were initially popular. It's impressive what the lack of obnoxious media overhype can do for appreciation of music and performing arts...

I listened to an early 90s show recently where he spotlighted the "only" remakes to ever hit #1. This included nothing but songs that charted from 1987-1991. Yeah, because the world didn't exist before the Weekly Top 40 debuted...

It happened right around the time Casey Kasem transitioned back to the American Top 40. So Rick had the American Top 40 as his competitor once again after 3 years of no AT40.
