WFDL is airing March 20, 1999. Jennifer Paige's "Sober" is the SS.
KZOY will probably air the same show?

The shows on the app have updated to: March 21, 1998 March 22, 2008 The 80s show has yet to update. This 1998 show should be good. It happened right around the time Casey Kasem transitioned back to the American Top 40. So Rick had the American Top 40 as his competitor once again after 3 years of no AT40. It was great to hear the March 1998 countdown. So many memories relived, with me being 20 going on to 21 at the time. While we’ve been getting so many charts from 1997 the past several years, we finally get to hear the follow up songs from so many artists with big hits in 1997. It was good to hear the follow ups from: Hanson, Chumbawumba, The Spice Girls, Aqua, Robyn, Tonic, Usher, and Paula Cole just to name a few. Was hoping to hear “Uninvited” from Alanis Morrisette but I guess that didn’t chart until a few weeks later that year. Spring Break ‘98’, I went to Florida for the first time on my own, and these songs definitely brought back the memories. I hope Rick gives us a few summer and autumn countdowns from this year too. Many “whatever happened to?” songs from this year. Not too mention, it’s an underplayed year. True 90s on 9 offers it sometimes, but it’s based on Billboard which was way too mixed with country, and rap and songs that didn’t get much airplay on the hit music stations. So I am glad we have Rick’s countdowns not based on Billboard.

^ "Uninvited" would debut on the AT40 show dated 5/2, so it was a few weeks away. I'm not sure how different AT40 was from WT40 at this time.
Speaking of AT40 and 1998, the anniversary of its relaunch is coming up on 3/28.

Looks like Rick would've been a week behind Casey at this point. Was quick going through the 2000 shows last night, and Santana's "Maria Maria" was #1 on the WT40 show dated 5/13. It didn't hit #1 on AT40. This also happened in 1999 with Cher's "Believe", so at some point before then, Rick was slightly fudging the charts. ETA: I have only two WT40 shows from 2000 in my collection: 5/13, and 11/25.

Maybe the best way to answer the question of "when" is to figure out at what point he went back to R&R's CHR/Pop chart, with no Rhythmic mixing or anything like that going on. After looking...best guess I can place for that is somewhere in the Fall of 1996, as once "Loungin' " falls off (11/16), nothing else really stands out as far as it's not supposed to be there or it's up way higher than it did on the R&R Pop chart. The glaring exception to this would probably be "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" getting at least SIX weeks (!) at #1 (11/2-12/7) - 12/7 is the last chart from 1996 that's posted on Reception, and No Doubt are #1 at the start of 1997. After that point, the deviations become less noticeable unless you know the chart well, such as "Pony" reached #24, Tony! Toni! Tone!'s "Let's Get Down" reached #34 (it stopped at #46 in R&R), Aaliyah's "One in a Million" reached #29 (didn't chart at all in R&R), or "Wannabe" hit #2 (a few notches higher than in R&R). Oop! Apparently "As Long As You Love Me" did hit #1 there, on 1/31/98.

I get emotional just thinking about it. Loved Savage Garden, Backstreet Boys, KC and JoJo, Ben Folds Five, The Verve, Spice Girls, All Saints, Sugar Ray...I remember where I was when I heard these songs. One of the things I’ve always liked about Rick’s show is he’ll rarely play hip hop or rap, which I really don’t care for. I kind of like that he deviates from the charts.
