Wow, another 1989 show. That’s 3 out of the past 4 weeks that 1989 has been offered. No complaints. But it’s clear that Dees staff has heard our pleas in the past for more ‘89’ shows. Also, very cool to see a 1991 show up. I look very much forward to songs from the Summer of 1991. 👍

You guys are so lucky. I loved the music of 1991. Loved Escape Club and one hit wonders like “Unbelievable”. I wonder if we’re ever going to get these shows, although I’m not holding my breath. Was there a guest in the 1991 show? What was the challenge?

Was there a guest in the 1991 show? What was the challenge? Klaus Meine and Matthias Jabs of the Scorpions were interviewed, leading into "Wind of Change".

KZOY is playing 07/27/85 this evening. The sure shot is "Freedom" by Wham! This is the 8th time it has aired on retro-Dees.

Robert Palmer's cover was played as an extra. Rick Dees really worked hard to get that song into the Top 40 but it stiffed at number 50 on Cashbox.

Actually the last time it aired was 2011 which was only on terrestrial radio stations.

KKMK is playing the show from 07/02/2005 tonight. At least all 3 radio shows are from the current month this weekend. This show is a special where Rick plays one hour of #1 hits from 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005. The first song played was a mash-up of Pink's "Get the Party Started" and ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down".

The last hour switched over to August 20, 1988 and stayed there.

And Rick was dropping the jinxes on the 1991 show. He said "It's not often an instrumental gets to the top 10" after playing "Lily Was Here"--which held at #12 that week and started to drop the next week.
That was preceded by "The Dream Is Still Alive" by Wilson Phillips, which Rick said was heading toward to the top 10 and that WP were really getting used to doing that after four top 5 hits over the last year. "Dream..." also stalled at #12, and they never made the top 10 again.
