It is a 5 hour show. That surprised me too. They don't seem to be editing or removing any content from the show. They are adding a random unannounced 80's song each segment to extend the shows time.

As far as I can tell, ampedfm is just a site that is playing the select 80's/90's shows released to rick.com. Jason, ampedfm is playing the Rick Dees show this weekend only on Sunday 7 PM Central. All the adds removed along with the random extras. The show is 9-13/14-85. Is this the same show that you aired? I'm listening to the shows as I type. It will probably finish in 3 hours 20 minutes unless material is edited out. It plays at 128...could be better, could be worse.

What we were sent this week that aired yesterday from the syndicator is the "Schools Out Summer Special". It's a "special countdown" of the 40 hottest hits of the 85-86 school year. The #1 belongs to Whitney Houston.

Jason, Can ya let us know what show is sent to you next week? (an every week if possible). or is that not aloud?
As for the 9/14/85 show, that show is available to listen to on rick.com and was also aired on xm 2 years ago.

We don't have this upcoming weekends show yet.
The week prior was "from the 2nd weekend in June" according to Rick and featured the guests The Hooters. The #1 was "Live To Tell" by Madonna. It's also from 1986.
In fact, I checked and this is not quite what I expected but all six shows that we've received so far have been from 1986.

thats gotta be kind of repetitive. nothin but '86 each week, must be virtually the same songs, minus the xtras, each week. From June, I have 1 '87, 1 '88 and 2 '89 shows, most of which I think are available at rick.com. I do have 1 show from May of '84 though in case they need it

I'm just not 100% sure why but Rick's show reruns have always been odd. I don't have satradio but I remember reading complaints of way too many 88/89 shows and not enough 1983-1985 when the reruns were on XM...
But frozen in 1986 or not, the show still sounds pretty good tho. Our three countdowns back to back make Saturday can't miss radio for countdown fans.

I listened to Rick's 90s shows on SXM for six months until the relevant contract expired last June, and 1990-93 were almost totally neglected during that time, while 1998 and 1999 were done to death. Sounds like the 80s broadcasts followed a similar pattern. It's good that Rick and TKO are making his shows available for broadcast again, but if they want to replay a different one every week then a more diverse mix of years would be desirable (though it should be remembered that the WT40 only goes back to September 1983.) I'd especially like to hear some from the 1988-89 period not covered by Premiere's AT40s.

Hi,
For this upcoming weekend, Rick identifies the show as "the first week of Summer". It's again 1986. Special guest, Jeffrey Osborne. The sureshot is Steve Winwood's "Higher Love".

is it via satelite or cd? Either way, I'd keep a copy Jason so that NEXT year you can at least mix up the years a lil bit. Or even better, run a marathon some random weekend. Which I know would not quite work for your station since its a daytimer only. but still....

Ok this is what I've ascertained from the XM broadcasts, by year, this is how many shows from each that aired:
1984: 0 1985: 6 1986: 5 1987: 5 1988: 5 1989: 6 1990: 1 1991: 3 1992: 7 1993: 5 plus the: (year end part 2) 1994: 7 1995: 1 plus the: (year end part 1) 1996: 4 1997: 6 plus the: (year end part 2) 1998: 6 1999: 6
A couple times shows aired twice in back to back weeks. Once or twice shows didnt fire and theres 1 weekend I have not data on.
