That means we'll more than likely get 1983 the week after if they continue the trend of playing all the odd-numbered years in succession before getting to the even-numbered ones.

That means we'll more than likely get 1983 the week after if they continue the trend of playing all the odd-numbered years in succession before getting to the even-numbered ones. That would also mean another trend: three weeks in a row of playing the same year as Premiere gave us one week earlier. If they then switch to even-numbered years, then 1980 or 1988 (no Casey replication!) would likely be next.

Looks like Michael got his wish and we'll have our first November 1988 show ever. My guess is that 1983 will be after that one.

With November 1988 coming up, maybe there'll be enough time between shows from that year for a January 1988 countdown (not my favourite period of music, but one that they rarely if ever touch).
OTOH, we get January 1989 seemingly every year and it may be time for that year again by then, but at least it likely won't come just a few weeks after a December 1988 show with most of the same songs. December 1989 would be a nice change of pace....

Because 1989 was only done a couple weeks ago, it looks like we may not get it again until mid-January of 2020, which I'll definitely take over January 7.

Back when you predicted the November shows, I never actually believed they'd play all of 1987-89 in the same month, but I'm glad to be proven wrong. If they stay on track, we could indeed see a late January 1988 show, which would also be a first. Who knows what will happen with 1989 after the New Year? I think one reason 1/7/89 keeps coming up is because of the chart date. I think only 1980 and 1985 have earlier chart dates. So, since the first Friday of 2020 will be 1/3, they will be looking for an early date again. Maybe we'll get 1985 for a change.

Looks like it'll be 11/26...just like last year. At least the past few shows were either new or not-as-recent repeats.
So for December it'll more than likely be a combination of the even-numbered years that hadn't been used in a while. I'm thinking 12/6/1980, 12/15/1984, 12/18/1982, and then 12/27/1986 to wrap up the year, unless they decide to do a special again.

I don't understand why they have never considered doing a year-end special where they would review what Billboard published for their Hot 100 year-end charts. If anything at least review the Top 40 by any means.
Speaking of next week given that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, it is very likely they will air the countdown show earlier than usual like they have done in the past.

Wasn't expecting them to go just one year after this week's show for next week. With next Friday falling on the 6th, it's more than likely going to be 12/8's chart.

Indeed, it's pretty rare for them to do consecutive years back-to-back, but the good news is they've never done the 12/8/84 chart before.

This is the first time in a few months that Mark announced next week's show before playing #1.

12/20/86 I'm assuming? I believe this will be a "new" show.

If there aren't any specials on 12-27-19 or 1-3-20, I think the next year featured will be 1982. If the Countdown continues with odd years in 2020, 1989 might be featured once again! 1987 would not be feasible since 1986 is being played this Friday. 1985 wouldn't make much sense since 1984 was just featured as well. 1983 could work if 1982 isn't played later this month. 1981 wouldn't work either since 1980 is featured this weekend. I just don't understand why the VJs don't do a Countdown of the yearend since they apparently have an agreement with Billboard to utilize their charts. They could do a Top 40 for one week, or split the Top 80 into two shows. Any agreement, thoughts?
