Great. They're doing the "let's play all the songs in alphabetical order without the VJ talk breaks" act again. And they don't even have the show on-demand yet. I heard that too. How does that even happen? I know mistakes get made, especially since radio is largely automated now, but something like this is not a random error. Somebody has to be involved in creating an alphabetical playlist somehow, and why would they be doing that to begin with?

And I'm pretty sure they skipped a couple of songs too.

Some good news, and potential good news for the future as well...
1983 next week should be a new chart. Last year we got 3/5/83 for the fourth time, so we'll be narrowly missing hearing that one again.
Also, if they don't mess with the rotation again, the next 1986 show could be new as well. Last time they played 2/22/86, the next appearance of that year came nine weeks later, so fingers crossed for ten weeks this time.
In the bad news department, I predict disappointment for the second week of March. The only years left to play are 1985 and 1988. Both would be good picks for the first week of March, and both would be lousy picks for the second week. We'll see.

The countdown appears to be fixed; it’s replaying with VJ talk breaks and the songs in the right chart order.

Maybe Martha will come back. She turns "only" 65 this coming May. (Alan had his 67th birthday yesterday, and Mark will be 74 in October.) If as has been speculated above, this was a cost cutting move to reduce headcount, I doubt they are gonna shell out $ to add Martha.... I didn't know that big an amount of money was required to bring back Martha just for the VJ Big 40 shows (I know you didn't specify a figure, but still...). If bringing in "Downtown" Julie Brown for the VJ Big 40 (which means doing double duty on both the 80s and 90s channels) isn't an option, then should the VJ Big 40 just be discontinued already (and will I have to quit this forum because of it)? I just wish the VJ Big 40 wouldn't be done with just the two surviving male VJs going forward.

Again, Nina is still hosting the Big 40. She's only gone from daily hosting, which apparently happened months ago and we only just noticed.

The 70's channel hosts AT 40 the 70's, so couldn't that be in place of the VJ Countdown, AT 40, the 80's?

I believe from 2006-09 80s on 8 played Casey. I also recall Rick Dees being on 90s on 9 back then.

Ok I was not expecting them to skip over 1985 and 1988.

Well, at least we won't get 1985 back to back with Premiere (or worse, at the same time) or another show from the overplayed month of February 1988. I assume we should get both years later in March as we haven't heard then yet in 2024.

At least next week's show will be a "no brainer"-- 3-1-80. They are going to have to call it a 3-1-80 show, because if they go back a day it would be 2-29-80. 1980 becomes the first repeated show of the year, before all ten ('85 and '88) played their first time.

Talk about your "sleeper" song--"I Know There's Something Going On" debuted in October 1982, and was still moving up the chart. It would spend 31 weeks on the Hot 100, and never hit the Top 10, peaking at #13.

The good news is that 3/1/80 has never been played before, giving us two weeks in a row of new charts. The bad news is that all four of the corresponding charts from 1985 and 1988 for the following two weeks have been played within the last few years.
