Yeah at least 1980 will have several songs that would have never been played any other time on there.

This week's chart (12/28/85) was last featured by the VJs in January 2014 in perhaps the most boneheaded incident in the show's history. I presume most of you remember what I'm talking about. Worse than 1988 being played twice in a two week period earlier this year? Yes, even worse than that. Not only did they play consecutive charts from 12/28/85 and 1/11/86, but they repeatedly insisted that the earlier chart was from "this week in 1985" and the latter was from "this week in 1986," as a way of saying "See, they're from different years!" And going so far as to justify this on Facebook by saying they really had no other options.

Oh please--no other options as in eight different years--1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1988 or 1989?

Can't wait to get what'll essentially be a repeat of 12/24 last year followed by a repeat of 1/5/80 to kick off the new year. If Casey lite sticks to recent form, won't it be the "1/11/80" chart??

I think that 1/5 makes more sense since the first night this will be played is January 5, but 1/12 is also possible. Either way, it's a chart that Casey didn't count down.

With Friday being January 5th, January 12th would be a big advance in the future, and I don't think they have gone a week ahead from the actual date, but hey there's always a first. If they did 1-12-80, they would rename it 1-11-80.

Do any of you think sending a master list of every show date from last year to their program director or whoever will help prevent them from repeating dates from last year?

Alan just said on his regular show Casey lite will be the first chart of the 80s... so it looks like "1/4/80"

I'd say it's always worth a shot. The difference with the '60s is Lou Simon. I drop his name a lot, I know, but there may not be anyone in the business who has ever cared more about putting on the best countdown. He actually asks his listeners for help.

The song that appeared a few minutes ago when I checked the radio was "Heartache Tonight" by the Eagles, which was at #34 on 1/5/80. The following week it plunged to #99.

Next week's Copycat Casey...1987

1/10 would be the more logical choice, but of course there's always the chance they'll go with the week after instead.

Next week's Copycat Casey...1987 Oh whee, another Casey duplicate or near duplicate--and last month both SXM and Premiere featured December 1986 and thus many of the same songs.

Yes I discussed how strange this was in another thread when a lot of other former top tenners had either stopped their slide or were actually climbing again that week probably from a combo of the transition from Xmas back to regular playlists and exposure on year end review shows.

Perhaps Lou could put us in touch with the person who programs the 80s charts (and the 90s too -- they're off the rails lately). Even if no changes end up being made, I'd love to hear how these other programmers respond to our complaints.
