I'm glad to see 1988 on tap for next week. Even though the VJs have featured 7/30 more recently than 8/6, the fact is that we're probably getting 8/6 from Premiere and, in general, that's one of the most overplayed charts between the two shows. Also, it sets us up for a new 1985 show soon after.

It's most likely that 7-28-23 will feature 7-27-85. Would this be the first time in the history of the show that all 10 years were played three times in the first 30 (excluding the Presidential Special in February) weeks of the year?

Sorry was off a week--let's make that 8-4-23. The show would be 8-3-85. Every year would have been featured three times during the regular countdowns. First time in the show history for this?

I was wondering something else -- is this the first time that the VJs have played 1987, 1988 and 1989 all in the same month? Third time, actually. July 2015: 7/4/87, 7/16/88, 7/29/89. (Three out of a 5-week shot, with 7/26/86 also coming between 88 and 89. 81 had that month's other show.) November 2019, three out of a 4-week shot: 11/4/89, 11/7/87, 11/19/88. (Coming between 87 and 88 was another one from that side of the decade, 11/16/85.) 2018 also had three from the same month played - 10/8/88, 10/21/89, 10/31/87 (each pair having a separate show inbetween) - but, the 87 didn't land until the first week of November (Friday: November 2). There have also been at least two other times where all three were this close together, it just didn't land all three inside the same calendar month. |

So this means all 10 years have been featured 3 times this year as mentioned earlier. Wonder if they're going to play the Billy Squier "Rock Me Tonight" instead of the Freddie Jackson song.

Ok, I have sent the PD an e-mail with concerns regards to the repeated charts, as well as the VJ Big 40 Countdown errors the channel makes every week. I requested the following to happen, to give fresh new charts, to not repeat charts 1-2 years ago and if they do or more, replay the shows back when the chart date was first used, as well as hiring a fact checker/copy editor to get the information right. Hopefully something will be done and that I'll get the response I'll be looking for, but not holding my breath... It might be a good time to reach out to that honcho again. It's more than a chart position or year being off by a number or two. How many times recently have they played the wrong version of a song or in some cases a totally different tune? They got to get it together! |

They're going with the 10th instead of the 3rd like I thought they would? Oh well, 8/10 is also new anyway. Also we'll never get this show from Premiere because Charlie Van Dyke guest hosted that week.
