So we'll either get a 2017 repeat, which isn't all that bad, or the only May 1985 chart that hasn't been done yet.

The only reason I'm going to advocate for the repeat is because I would MUCH rather prefer that the ridiculousness that is picking chart dates 5-6 days ahead of premiere date not continue. (And in this case it would be doubly ridiculous to go with 5/25 this time seeing as 2017 and 2023 have identical calendars.) Though as it stands, the one silver lining is that next week isn't landing on 88, which shows that they're now willing to change up the order again. Either 80 or 88 to follow 85 to close out May would be fine. (Lean towards 88 because 80 could follow *that* even, and it would mean not getting 6/4 for the third time in four years.)

And 1980 in late May or early June would likely mean we don't get 7/5/80 for the umpteenth time.

Five artists had two songs in the countdown--Michael Jackson, Styx, Hall and Oats, Journey and Culture Club.

There may be a chance we'll get 5/25 though probably because it would be around the time that they go with the date ahead of the premiere. That makes me afraid for if 1988 is up next and they do that same jump again, we all know what that means.

Even more impressive than 5--possible record for most more than one song on a Countdown by the same artist?

I think that is a Hot 100 record. American Top 40 on January 15, 1994. 10 acts had two songs each: Gin Blossoms, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Ace Of Base, Billy Joel, Jan Jackson, Haddaway, Aerosmith, Mariah Carey and Bryan Adams were doubled up but pop as we knew it was dead at that point and they were using some niche airplay chart. www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/1994-0115.pdf

They're doing the 5/25 chart. Gee...I wonder why? At least AT40 will play the actual Alison Moyet "Invisible" unlike on here.

Next week: May 28, 1988. (Unless they change their minds and go for a holiday weekend special.)

Next week: May 28, 1988. (Unless they change their minds and go for a holiday weekend special.) I think if they were to do a special, there would have been no announcement for the next week at all like when they did the President's Day thing in February. Mark was absent from the show but even without his talk breaks it felt like it dragged on a little too long, probably because of WATW and them weirdly playing a live version of WOS. Not to mention there was a number one jingle that played before #1, which I don't think they've ever used before. So I'm guessing this all means that 1980 will be the first weekend of June.
