They just cut out the Beatles LDD between #24 and #23. I guess we're back to editing out anything that isn't from the 80's.

I recorded the Sunday night show when I was out at dinner; at 11 PM I noticed that they were just about done and I was wondering if they'd skipped an hour of it (which frankly wouldn't have surprised me). While all 40 of the 1987 hits were present, I don't get why they would edit out songs by Elvis and the Beatles while recently leaving in pre-80s songs that were LDDs, Archives, and other extras by less durable or well-known artists.
I'm also starting to wonder if SXM and Premiere are now coordinating their 80s shows. If so, I don't know whether to listen to a potentially more complete countdown on terrestrial radio or just record the satellite version which has the advantage of being able to listen at a more convenient time.

I looked at the data provided on the AT40: the 1970s in another thread and that provided by Shadster for XM AT40 1970s broadcasts and, with the exception of 1979, AT40: the 1970s is just as good, if not better, about providing good quality shows and not that many more repeats than satellite radio. I will check the 1980s later and see what I come up with.
There are some advantages of listening to Satellite-no commercials and there are some shows that have been broadcast on Satellite that have not been broadcast on Terrestrial. But there are an equal number of shows on Terrestrial that haven't been on Satellite. Assuming that the 1980s will bring similar results for me and if I were just getting started in building a collection, I would think twice about paying between $10 and $20 per month for Sirius XM and would listen to Terrestrial, which is free.

Did You notice that today's program lasted only 2:50? Yeah, XM is back to editing out songs it doesn't feel like playing. They didn't play the first LDD (Follow You, Follow Me – Genesis) or the Extra Song (Show Me – Joe Tex). This show last played on XM on Aug 31, 2006.

Even with two songs edited out, it seems hard to believe that what was originally a four hour countdown could be reduced to 2:50, with all 44 other songs remaining (including the second LDD and the replay of last week's top 3). That would leave about an hour's worth of commercials in the original, terrestrial version.
At least Premiere isn't playing the same show this weekend (though they did run this one last year), unlike the last three weeks.

Was surprised to hear the uncensored version of Uneasy Rider played at #28. Pete Battistini's book doesn't mention that Casey's staff missed playing the edited version.
