Also, Kim Wilde's "You Keep Me Hangin' On", which was #30 and also a Long Distance Dedication, was deleted from last week's SXM broadcast (though the LDD tease was left in.) I'm guessing this was one of the too-many errors SXM makes with these; maybe it'll be corrected on rebroadcast. On the replay Sunday night (July 19, 2009) of AT40 from 7/4/1987 SXM restored Kim Wilde's "You Keep Me Hangin' On as #30/LDD.

SXM left in all of the AT40 archives and LDD'S on their rebroadcast of AT40 from 7/26/80 this morning. I couldn't believe it !!!

I think we all need to send XM/Sirrus a thank you email for leaving the LDD and Archives in. Maybe they will continue to do so if we are nice about it ;D

And while recording through DirecTV, the sound went out during #8 for some reason and didn't come back 'til midway through #1, so I gotta re-record next week. Hope they leave everything in during the replay!!!

Two interesting things I noticed in the 7/21/73 countdown:
Casey named 11 AT40 affiliates in one segment (leading into "Smoke On the Water"), all in North Carolina. Is this a record?
This also included one of Casey's singing bits, with the "My name is Michael" line from "Playground in My Mind." Probably like many boys named Michael born in the 1970s, I often heard my parents sing that when I was little. Maybe Mike Kasem did too.

Wonder if that's how Mike got his name. He was born a few weeks after the 7/21/1973 show (mid-August I think).

I'll predict this weekend SXM will run 1978 (with 1979 as a wild card), and 1985; of the Casey shows of the 70s and 80s it's been longest since we've heard these years.

8/1/81 would be appropriate too, given that it was the debut week of MTV and of its five original VJ's, who (except for the late JJ Jackson) now dominate SXM 8.
If your prediction comes true, then we would have the interesting situation of three consecutive years heard in one weekend, assuming they follow their typical pattern and rerun the 1980 show aired last Sunday morning.
