Well I am miffed a lot more recently than that. Been posting about the Billboard top 100s that have been posting on YouTube. Except when they posted the one for 1971, it was only the top 50!

It's on this site. Go to 1971, Dec 25 issue part II (Talent In Action), p.39. www.worldradiohistory.com/Archive-All-Music/Billboard-Magazine.htm

Thanks. But I was hoping the guy doing these things did a top 100. 1973 is due so hopefully that will be a top 100 as that was the other year AT40 only did a top 40.

If "the guy doing these things" is Ken Martin working for Premiere, he's constructed a top 80 of 1971 spread over two weeks, which Premiere has already aired. He's also made a top 100 for 1979 (only the top 50 was broadcast originally), and probably a two-week top 80 for 1973 with each half lasting for three hours, though Premiere hasn't officially broadcast the first half yet. (AT40 only moved to a top 100 in 1974, and for four years each half of that was four hours in length while the regular weekly shows were only three hours.)

The guy doing these things is 'CasaDiogenes' which is probably not an acronym for Ken. Besides this guy has been posting these countdowns regularly for weeks. I doubt Ken has the time to do that what with all he is doing for Premiere and his own supersized presentations. The best part of those CasaDiogenes productions are all the album versions of songs, something that Ken does not do even on his supersized shows.

I just looked up Casa Diogenes on YouTube. It's a Japanese-based studio which has up a number of Billboard year end countdowns that so far include various years from 1957 to 1986. Each consists just of the year's top 100 songs, with no intros from Casey or anyone else (title, artist, and position are displayed on the screen). Plus it has a lot of classical, jazz, and other performances.

This is so much better than Premiere that will play 1978 for the fifth time this year! Just to clarify, two of those airings were "B" shows and one was Part 2 of the Top 100 of 1978. So I wouldn't say Premiere was overdoing 1978.

So I wouldn't say Premiere was overdoing 1978. 1-13-24 was NOT a yearend countdown show, it was an "A" and "B" which featured 1978 as the "B" show. The yearend countdowns from 1978 were on 12-30-23 and 1-6-24. 1-13-24 "B" (which did seem strange being that 1978 just had been featured for two weekends prior) 2-3-24 "B" 3-9-24 Standalone 4-6-24 "B" 4-27-24 Standalone

Speaking of supersizing, the 12/18/71 countdown played Thursday night had the complete “American Pie”, which wasn’t in the original show, at least going by the cue sheets. However, two original extras were deleted.

Tonight's Wheel is from 8/18/79. Sirius XM cut out the replay of the previous week's top 3, but nothing else. And this is the only time I can recall Casey playing the SOB version of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" (usually it was the "son of a gun" revision that most radio stations probably preferred.)

While May 13, 1978 & May 17, 1975 are possibilities, I'll go with May 14, 1977 over May 15, 1971 for the weekend. 1977 has not been featured since February. 1971 aired last month.

Any chance they'd play 5/20/78? I don't think its been played since 2008 unless I missed it along the way. Is it verboten to play dates 'early' (2 days early in this case)? --DDA
