For anyone interested, I have been keeping track of the regular shows so far in 2024. 1976 hasn't played since 1-20-24, so it should play tomorrow. Here are shows thus far in 2024: 76,74,75,72,78,79,77,73,71,78,75,72,71,79. This is so much better than Premiere that will play 1978 for the fifth time this year!

Great year, but why the neglect of 1976?

Great year, but why the neglect of 1976? When given the choice, they will go for the earlier shows.

Well for the first nine weeks of this year they went with all eligible years, both early, mid and late 70's.

While May 4, 1974 & April 30, 1977 shows are possibilities, I'll go with the show from May 1, 1976 for this weekend.

When given the choice, they will go for the earlier shows. I'm not so sure about this. So far this year, we have had 8 weekend 70s shows from 71 - 74, and 8 shows from 75 - 79. We have had 9 "Wheel Of Casey" shows from 70 - 74, and 9 from 75 - 79. I just did a search of recently played songs on 70s on 7, and of the last 50 songs played, 23 were from 70 - 74 while 27 songs were from 75 - 79. This time last year, it did seem like the station was giving some preference to songs from the early 70s but now, it seems like they are being equitable in playing songs from throughout the decade. On the other hand... If my math is right, the Wheel of Casey has given us three shows each from '72 and '78 while only playing one each from '71, '73, '76 and '79. Hmmmm...

I recall hearing this show back in 1976, at age 15, when I became a regular AT40 weekly listener. I was always amazed at the quality of the show and the relatively fast pace--not paying attention to any song edits but instead concentrating on comments made by Casey, and seeing where my favorite songs were on a weekly basis. Thanks to everyone involved with still making these shows available to enjoy.

Wheel of Casey this week: December 18, 1971. The last show before the two-week break and the top 40 Xmas songs/top 40 hits of '71. I recall being miffed that they weren't doing a top 80 like they had for '70.
