As I'm listening to the Top 40 of 1973 I can't help but notice how clean it sounds. I was wondering if maybe a little extra was added to Frankenstein with the great seperation and depth. Great job again Shannon

Great job again Shannon The song is well-produced and dynamic by itself without any help, but Shannon may have swapped the single version with an edited LP version. I grew up listening to the single version and the version on this countdown was unfortunate.

I did notice Casey's voice dropped out for just a second early on in the countdown, somewhere between 35 and 30. As if it were muffled for a second.

XM 8 is playing Top 100 of 1984 right now...(while XM 9 is playing Rick Dees from 12/23/1995) - why do they have to be on at the same time? !!!!

According to everything I've read, they do repeat it the following Sunday - but with it being a year end show and the possibility of a NY Eve/Day broadcast (I read somewhere), who knows.

Isn't it odd that we haven't heard a 4 hour 70's show on XM since the merger?

I hope we hear the four-hour shows during 2009 since we won't hear them on terrestrial radio.

Has anyone seen any more information on a NY Eve/Day broadcast? It's not on their online schedule.

The best way to find out whether or not that AT40 will be broadcast on New Years Eve or Day would be to email one of the DJs on the 70s on 7 or 80s on 8 using the email addresses on Sirius.com or listen (you could possibly call them on the request lines listed on the channel pages as well and ask). The xmradio.com website hasn't been updated for nearly two weeks and has become unreliable for the most part-they even show Rick Dees still airing on the 80s on 8 on Saturday and there hasn't been one on 80s since Dec 13.
I listened to the 70s for an hour this morning and Magic Matt mentioned the New Year-no hints about special programs on 70s on 7.

I was listening to the 70s on 7 station about 45 minutes ago and believe I heard the DJ say that this weekend's AT40 (1/3-4/2009) was going to be "The Top 50 of 1976." (What happened to 51-100?) Can anyone confirm this?
Also, I'm beginning to wonder if the new converged station format has set aside only a 2.5 hour slot to run the AT40 shows on the 70's on 7. I noticed that the show almost never runs the full length theme at the end of each hour like they used to do. This keeps the shows within a 2.5 hour timeframe. Any thoughts?

^ But wasn't the Top 50 of 1976 a 4-hour show?

Well the Top 50 of 1976 is a four-hour show (eight hours overall for the full 100) so maybe there's hope we'll hear a four-hour show from 1979. At least there's hope.

I'm a bit surprised that they won't be playing the entire Top 100 of 1976 this year. While I'm happy that they played the Top 40 of 1973 last weekend, the 70s on 7 has the entire Top 100 of 1976 and broadcast it in December 2006 or January 2007. Therefore, they could replay the entire countdown and not just the 2nd part of it.

Looks like you were right! Top 50 of 1976 is playing right now...and it's too bad they didn't play 100 to 51 - there are a lot of great songs in there. As far as time frame - I always thought the show was around 2 1/2 hours WITHOUT commercials - but you may right also about time retraints.
