Great countdown this week and it starts out with quite a bang as Rod Stewart's "Angel" is announced, but the B side ("Lost Paraguayos") is played. As was mentioned in another thread, "Angel" would never be heard on AT40 since this was the only week the song was in Billboard's Top 40.
Dennis Yost, who just recently passed away, is at #39 with "What Am I Crying For".
Husband and wife (James Taylor & Carly Simon) each debut with their own songs at #38 & #37. I wonder if that ever happened again.
Lighthouse is at #36 with the radio friendly song, "Sunny Days". Even more deserving was their single nearly a year later called "Pretty Lady", which sadly did not quite reach the Top 40 on Billboard. But it was a giant in my region of the country.

The 70's countdown this weekend is from 12/16/72. I listened to that show today. Lots of great songs!!! (Personal faves: "Clair", "Funny Face", "Rockin' Pneumonia", "I Can See Clearly Now", "Been To Canaan", "Pieces Of April," "I'm Stone In Love With You", "I'll Be Around") Although I was personally hoping for the 12/15/1979 show (Better luck next week, maybe, if they don't decide to do one of the AT40 Christmas specials), it was good to hear one of the 1972 countdowns. Out of the entire decade, 1972 was probably one of my all-time favorite years for pop music. Thanks Sirius XM!!! ;D P.S. "I'd Love You To Want To Me" is one of my dad's favorite songs, and I think it's pretty cool too!!

The 80s is allegedly 12/10/83, except that they're off to a horrible start. Thus far, they've counted backward, starting at #9, with random intros and outros thrown in.
Does anyone there actually listen to the broadcast?

OK - what is going on with Casey's 80s countdown today?
Started out with # 8 title, then played #9 - Crumblin' Down, then #10 Church of the Poisoned Mind - it's playing backwards! ;D

The Dee's show ended at exactly noon, and the top 3 were never aired. Their pc's can't get anything right once hitting the noon hour today.

After getting up (down?) to #13, they teased us by airing the show intro. But, instead of playing #40, they ended up back up (down?) at #14. I guess I'll write this one off and hope they get it right on the replay.
. . .and it looks like they've written it off too, as #14 abruptly morphed into GnR's Paradise City. Yikes.

Now...they're playing December 13 1980 countdown - started in the mid 30s!

I have a feeling that XM never received the special edition of the 12/13/80 countdown in which Casey talked about John Lennon before playing "Starting Over".

Yeah. I recorded that show last week while I was away and I was a bit disappointed when I heard #4 being played. You would think if you were going to air the AT40 show from December 13, 1980 you have to play the "replacement version".
Can anyone tell me if Premiere aired the John Lennon tribute last year?

Now...they're playing December 13 1980 countdown - started in the mid 30s! This was one total mess-up. I couldn't believe it...outro/intro out-of-order, then Rolling Stones/Guns N' Roses mess, finally another countdown in the mid 30's. To top it off, XM even cut-off the Top 3 on Rick Dees 90's show and totally pulled his current WT40 off channel 30 Sunday night. I just wonder what kind mess they made of AT40's Sunday's night show. They can't get anything right today.

I, too, was disappointed that Sirius XM did not, for whatever reason, air the John Lennon tribute. I read the text in Rob Durkee's book and was moved, but no one can read it like Casey can. Does anyone have the two pieces of the Dec. 13, 1980, countdown that were changed after Lennon's death -- the question letter in the first hour and the segment that includes "(Just Like) Starting Over" that they could share?
Thanks.

I just checked xmradio.com and they posted the upcoming show for the 80s on 8 (Sunday Dec 21, 11am Central AND 7pm Central): Dec 15, 1984. While I wouldn't get my hopes up, maybe they are changing things for the better as far as announcing what shows will be broadcast. Nothing from the 70s or nothing about what Rick Dees shows they will be broadcasting this coming weekend.
