Little continuiity oops in this show- story about Bobby Freeman's "Do you want to Dance" along with a snippet leads into... "Cisco Kid" by War? Followed by the correct cover version of the previous song by Bette Midler at #25.

Followed by the correct cover version of the previous song by Bette Midler at #25. The bad editing done by SXM. They typically always remove ANY song pre-1970. So whoever edited this should have removed the entire Bobby Freeman segment. They do this all the time. On one show they cut out an entire story about Cat Stevens and his original version of “The First Cut Is The Deepest”. All that was left was “....and now Cat’s friend Rod Stewart with HIS version”. Out of context like this makes for a very bad intro.

That Elton John goof at the end of the song was in the original show--Casey must have forgotten to record the outro to the song so they used the one from the week before.

For the more acquisitive members here, Shannon Lynn has posted a message of great interest on the Facebook AT40 70's page: www.facebook.com/groups/AT40the70sYou'll need to ask to join, but, that is nothing but a formality, and I think you will like what he has to say. I surely did!

Casey just answered a question about an artist topping the charts with a vocal and instrumental hit. Of course, Herb Alpert did it in 1968 with This Guy's In Love With You and in 1979 with Rise (which came a little over two years after this show aired). However, Casey talked about Billy Preston's close but no cigar with Outa-space (#2/1972) and 2 #1's (Will It Go Round In Circles(1973) & Nothin' From Nothin' (1974)--However if they used Cash Box as their chart Outa-space did reach #1 in 1972--as did the other two songs. It's always a lot of fun listening to these old shows.

April 10, 1976 this week. SXM seems to be stuck on certain years; the last few weeks we've had 1974, 76, and 77 only a month or so after the last plays of those years, while 1972, 75, 78, and 79 haven't been aired in two months or more.

Is there any way to know before Saturday at Noon, which week/year AT40 the 70's will feature? Not usually. They used to announce it at the end of the show. They’d say to tune in next Saturday at noon as Casey counts down the hits from...... They stopped doing that awhile back. Once in a great while JJ Walker will say what year is coming up after his show on Saturday, but that’s rare.
