This week: July 10, 1976. Yes, that's just one week before Premiere's show, so SXM gives us a double dose of Afternoon Delight.

August 10, 1974 playing now, after a weird little interlude in which 5/8/71 showed up on the display.

I thought I had missed the show. They played the ending of one show, then started this one. I was very confused for a few minutes

Problem wasn't fixed for this mornings airing. The folks at SXM really don't gave a d**n about AT40 it appears.

August 20, 1977 was a Saturday. Elvis died on Tuesday, Aug 16. Casey mentioned Elvis having the #1 country song this week, but failed to mention that the King had passed on. How far in advance were these shows recorded?

I think they were done about a week earlier. There was no time to fix it before it aired.

Typically the show was recorded 10 or 11 days before it actually aired.

Typically the show was recorded 10 or 11 days before it actually aired. Right--the shows were recorded on the Tuesday or Wednesday of the week before they aired. So the 8/20/77 show would have been recorded on roughly August 10, 1977...and of course, Elvis died on the 16th.

A cool coincidence on the 8/21/76 show...
Casey told a story about Lou Rawls in his days as a backup singer for Sam Cooke, then played #4, Lou's hit "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine." After that, he went into the Other #1's for that week. What should be the top country song but Mickey Gilley's version of "Bring It On Home to Me" -- originally recorded by Sam Cooke, backed up by Lou Rawls?
