The full 8 and a half minute version of American Pie on the AT40 show today (3-18-72) on SiriusXM. Casey says it will probably be the last week the song is in the Top 40 but the song hangs around for one more week.

According to the Pete Battistini book, this was AT40's first stereo broadcast. Curious...are the songs in the remastered earlier episodes in Stereo?

Casey really got into the intro to "In The Navy" on this weeks show!! Also, his intro to Cher's "Take Me Home", he commented on the albums cover (her in a Viking bikini). It's funny because the "Take Me Home" album cover appears to be heavily airbrushed, she looks odd on the cover, and more so on the back cover. I always liked the cover of her follow up album "Prisoner" better. Neither album is great musically, but "Take Me Home" has a better selection of songs than "Prisoner" which is pretty much entirely junk.

I am finding this morning that I can no longer record SiriusXM channels on my DVR on DISH TV. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ahh, it's the infamous AT40 show on SiriusXM where Casey says that 'With A Little Luck' by Wings is the highest debuting song in the history of the show. I know Casey just read what was written on the little 3 X 5 cards but I guess whoever wrote the cards was not around for the early days of AT40--when My Sweet Lord (George Harrison), Sweet Mary (Wadsworth Mansion) or Theme From Shaft (Isacc Hayes) ALL debuted higher than Paul's song. I even remember hearing this when the show first aired back in 1978 and thinking that was interesting. However, back then I didn't know how long AT40 had been around. The first show I ever remember hearing dated back to the fall of 1971 and I didn't become a regular listener until Early in 1976. I know that Pete points out this error in his book (AT40: 1970's) but I wonder did anyone ever write in to them back in the day to correct them. Hmm?

Just the countdown without Casey? Maybe there was some sort of glitch? Last year that happen during one of the countdowns, the show aired fine on Saturday, but then on Sunday the top five were just the songs with no Casey.

Assuming it's a glitch. Anyone know?

Now playing: April 16, 1977. (Note how the last three weeks have featured consecutive backwards years; wonder if this pattern will continue?)

If it does that means 1976 will be the next one (gee! see how clever I am). By the way, I like Q's Dancing Man--I wonder if that was written to be an answer song to Disco Lady by Johnnie Taylor from the year before .

Contra my expectations, the consecutive reverse years pattern ends this week, with April 21, 1973.
