the countdown from 7/12/80 is just about to start-What's great about the early 80's,is that the "AT40 Archives" was a regular feature-In this case,Casey was just starting to play all the #1 hits of the 60's-The three oldies played on this program were "Teen Angel" by Mark Dinning, which was one of those so-called "death ditties" that were popular in the late 50's-early 60's-"Theme From 'A Summer Place'" by Percy Faith, which spent 9 weeks at #1 & wound up being the #1 song of 1960 & "Stuck On You" by Elvis Presley-It was Presley's first chart topper since his discharge from the Army.

Jack 102.7 in Baltimore played the 7/12/80 countdown last weekend-However,the internet feed went silent within the first five minutes & I was unable to hear the show-Thank goodness it's on XM tonight.

Did anyone catch XM's broadcast on July 27 of the American Top 40 show from July 21, 1984? That rather spooky-sounding "Casey's Coast to Coast" jingle after Casey teased a story about some famous ghosts in history sent quite a chill up my spine!!! It almost sounded like an altered version of one of the older AT40 jingles rather than one from the then-current package. The ghost story, of course, was to tie in with the week's No. 3 hit (soon to become a No. 1 hit) "Ghostbusters."

total recorder and a line running from XM boombox to computer microphone/line in hole. Can it be done using an Internet player?

you can record off the internet by using Total Recorder. It can record any music from the internet. I have been using it for several years and am very pleased with the quality of the recordings. You can also program it so that it will record at a certain time (for example, if you want to record the AT 40 Flashbacks every Saturday morning). However, you cannot program it to record XM online (at least I haven't been able to do so). Go to www.highcriteria.com.

Most XM Tuners have a built-in 'fm transmitter' for which you can set to a position on the radio dial, then use any ordinary radio/stereo/boom-box/walkman and listen at the frequency you assigned......and susequently you can record it too to either a cassette recorder (like me) or a cd-recorder (which I rarely use). Additionally, most tuners have a headphone jack/line out which you can then connect either to your headphones, or directly to your stereo system and record away. Some XM tuners have their own harddrives in which you can record straight to that, and then listen to your recording whenever (example: The "Inno"). I'm not sure what type of recording it makes (.wav maybe?) or whether you can transfer said file to a pc or not. Its probably not .wav, its likely some propriatary(sp?) file extension which you'd hafta download some illegal program to convert it to mp3.

laura, as you can see, there are numerous ways you can record these programs.
As for my words, "AT 40 Flashbacks," that is what they were called in 2001 and 2002, and that is the name that has stuck in my mind once the shows came back on the air. I know the difference is that the AT 40 Flashback only played the last 3 hours of the show, whereas the current format plays the entire show. Whether it's AT 40 Flashback, or AT 40: The 80s, or whatever it's called, I think you understand. I guess I need to be careful with the exact words I choose because someone will call me out on my outdated terminology!

Sorry Ambratoor, I didn't mean to jump on your back there, was just looking for some clarifaction on the "flashback" part. I was starting to wonder if Premiere had brought BACK the AT40 flashback 'channel' they USED to have on their website....or some website. Cuz that would've been cool.

No worries, shadster. I didn't take it personal. It is hard to distinguish humor from anger sometimes in a posting. My last posting was intended to be written with a smile (guess I should have put a smiley face!). Thanks for pointing out the distinction. Despite the thousands of postings that use "Premiere" or "AT 40: The 80s," for some reason I still call it the AT 40 Flashbacks. Never again!

I was starting to wonder if Premiere had brought BACK the AT40 flashback 'channel' they USED to have on their website....or some website. Cuz that would've been cool. I briefly liked the Clear Channel format lab AT40 channel replaying 80s shows, until it was taken off (with many other Format Lab stations.) Unfortunately, the shows were usually butchered when I heard them; they never started at #40 and sometimes switched to another week before the show was over. Also, there was too much repetition (I got very tired of one particular May 1987 rebroadcast.) Still, they made several workdays go by faster....

While most of your complaints were valid, the reason they never started at #40 is because most of the shows didn't start at #40. Most of the FB series was 3 hours in length and were (obviously) the final 3 hours of the show.
