I am now anxious if XM will announce the original episode date of this weekend's 80s show prior to the show. While the same info for the succeeding weekend (February 24) has already been announced on "This Week on XM" website, it has not been announced yet.

I listened a lil bit to this weekends episode and I thought somethin was off on the date. I knew there was a flashback sode of 2/25/84, yet this weeks sode was 1/25/84. I thought it was unlikely that the days would line up like that in back to back months, and I was right. This weeks sode WAS in FACT from 2/25/84, contrary to what the website says. A previous flashback episode and a repeat.
And your right, there still is nothing listed for this weekend on XM8.
Interestingly enought though, they have announced what show they are running NEXT weekend (24th), 2/20/82.

Thank you shadster and tacomalo for your follow-up messages. I wrote to the XM and received the response from the XM 80s on 8 MC Music Programming about this info. I also look forward to listening to this episode.

Good news for anyone longing to hear AT40 shows from 1973 and/or 1977. XM has scheduled an AT40 countdown from February 24, 1973 for this Saturday (February 23), and one from February 26, 1977 for the next Saturday (March 1).

XM Radio announced yesterday (March 7) that XM Radio will no longer be available on AOL Radio as from May 1 and that XM Radio Online will be the exclusive source: "XM Radio Online will become the exclusive home on the Internet for XM's commercial-free music channels. The commercial-free music channels that XM currently contributes to the AOL Radio lineup will no longer be available on AOL beginning May 1, as it was announced today that CBS Radio will be combining its online offerings with AOL Radio." (Source: FMQB) This means that we will not be able to listen to AT 40 '70s and '80s (XM version) on AOL Radio for free of charge any more . More seriously, listeners residing outside of the USA (like me) are not qualified for subscription to XM Radio Online because XM accepts credit cards "issued by financial institutions in the USA" only. For details: www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=611118or www.xmradio.com/aolradio/index.xmc

The stream that XM had when they started airing AT40 few years ago was not even close to the quality of AOL Radio. I think it was 64k wma stream (as far as I can remember)... Has that improved at all?!?

Bad news!! XM went back on its word and the Salute to Casey Kasem(2 days full of AT40 shows) on XMX (channel 2) scheduled for March 22-23 has been replaced by a special on Southern Rock. I plan to email them and complain and others who wanted this show should do so as well.

Hearing Frank Mills' "Music Box Dancer" on today's "AT40 On XM" brought back many a fond memory of listening to that song way back when it was first a hit in 1979. I was also amused by Casey Kasem telling the story of how the song became a hit "by accident" ;D Anyone out there know how, where, or if, I can get a ringtone for my cell phone in the style of "Music Box Dancer?" Its simple, pleasant melody would seem to lend itself well for use as a ringtone.

I typically use my Tivo machine to record the XM shows off of the DirectTv feed of XM. I just checked on the last couple of weeks, and I discovered that the weekend shows for both the 70s and 80s must have started early--as the countdowns were both in the mid 30s at the time my Tivo started recording.
I checked the XM site, and they haven't changed the show start times.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
