I received the following email back from John Clay, the 70s Program Director:Saturday was indeed a ‘fresh’ show, and for the most part you should hear fresh shows from this point out, with a few exceptions. Yes, new shows for the 80’s have been requested as well, but have not yet come it. There will be a few special shows, including end-of-year countdowns as well. Here is the schedule for the remainder of this month, beginning with this Saturday:
9-14-74
9-30-78
9-26-70
10-23-70
Thank you for listening!
John Clay
Program Director - The 70's on 7 I've noticed that XM 70s has indeed been running "fresh" Casey Kasem AT40 shows for the past few months, and John Clay's message stated that "fresh" Casey shows from the '80s have been requested, but have not come in . When, if ever, is XM 80s planning to start running more Classic AT40 Casey countdowns? It seems like all the shows they've run for these past couple of months are the same ones they've had for the past year.

Last week they aired 12/15/73, which will be repeated Wednesday night. This week it's the Christmas show from 12/22/73. My guess is they will do a year end countdown on Dec 29. Xm 8 is doing the top 100 of 1984 part 1 this sunday and probably part 2 the next week.

I had heard possibly that the previous week's airing on XM (don't know if it was 70's or 80's) supposedly had a record skip and/or also sounds like an off-center LP? Did anyone pick up on this or hear it? If so, please let me know the show date and song(s) so I can check my masters.
Thanks! Shannon

Today's (1/20/08) XM 80's show (from 12/06/1986) had problems as it was aired. Songs 40 - 34 played OK but then many of the songs from 33 to 22 played in the wrong order. After #34 All I Wanted by Kansas finished playing, the countdown jumped into #26 Land Of Confusion - Genesis. Then when Genesis finished, the countdown continued with #33 Foolish Pride - Daryl Hall. The songs from 32 to 29 played OK. After #29 The Rain - Oran "Juice" Jones finished playing, Casey introduced #25 Wild Wild Life - Talking Heads, which jumped back to #28 Victory - Kool & The Gang. There were other mistakes that followed.
Nothing was said on the air but XM stopped playing the countdown after #22 You Know I Love You...Don't You? by Howard Jones and went with their regular playing of 80's hits. I hope the countdown can be corrected for the rebroadcast on Thursday 1/24/08.

I was wondering what was going on with yesterday's countdown - I was recording it, but noticed it kept jumping back and forth from the countdown to "other song" for no apparent reason - I finally gave up around time they play the Howard Jones song.
I hope they can get it fixed ok in time to record on Thursday night.

I had an experience this weekend that really brought me back. My wife and I had lunch at our local Stewart's (as in the root beer), and while we were there (around 1pm ET on Saturday), they had XM 70s on...so, you're right...I was, for the first time in a VERY long time, in a business establishment where I heard a Casey Kasem show playing.

Today's 1/17/76 show featured the mid-70s opening/closing theme during Casey's closing credits, and then Shuckatoom kicked in after he finished talking. I was SO excited to have a show with a complete, unvarnished Shuckatoom -- until XM faded it out right before the vocal part

I remember them doing that on a few shows last fall. Maybe we'll get to hear that "complete, unvarnished Shuckatoom" when XM re-airs the 1/17/1976 AT40 this Wednesday. Let's tune in and find out.

I recorded it but didn't have the time to listen to it yet... Although, I don't have much hope that the end theme was left uncut there either

And if anyone heard tonight's 80's XM... you will have heard Casey introducing all the classical pieces in the "Hooked On Classics" medley.
That was my first time hearing it with Casey talking over it.
