As I had posted on the "sister" thread "AT40: The 70s ... This Week's Show", it's disconcerting for listeners of both SXM and Premiere-affiliates such as myself to have the same year featured by both in consecutive weeks (or close to that). Examples are: 1970 -- 8/08 (SXM) and 8/15 (PM) both on 8/11-8/12 1971 -- 8/28 (PM) and 9/04 (SXM) on 8/25-8/26 and 9/08-9/09, respectively 1975 -- 8/23 (SXM) and 8/30 (PM) on 8/25-8/26 and 9/01-9/02, respectively 1977 -- 8/13 (PM), 8/27 (SXM) and 9/10 (PM) on 8/11-8/12, 9/01-9/02 and 9/08-9/09, respectively. Ok, 8/13/77 was an alternate show to 8/15/70 but I included it for effect.
This is just a compilation of the last five weeks of overall AT40 - 70s programming.

That is an interesting perspective and one that myself and others used to subscribe to......until we started collecting and recording shows. That's when our tune changed and we welcomed any and all shows as long as they were different. BTW, it is a lot better than in previous years such as 2010 when IIRC, 10 shows were aired on both series. It has been over a year since the same show was offered on both series. So those of us that collect and record are fine with it but I understand your point having been on that side of the fence myself.

^Dukedeb, I understand your perspective of welcoming different shows -- however in close proximity -- to enable the recording/collection of rarely played "lost" hits within each show. When I began listening to AT40 on local radio in 1972, I used to record entire shows (w/o commercial breaks) on my cassette tape recorder for some time. Lost them over the years.

Premiere's AT40 the 80's played 08.15.87 show couple weekends ago. It had a Long Distance Dedication on 10th anniversary of Elvis death that asked to play Suspicious Minds version that was played on AT40 10 years ago. This was a long ( 7 mins) and live version that Casey says was recorded live in 1969.
Not that I like or am defending the Sirius XM approach to non-70's songs - but may explain why it was cut.

Speaking of the Sirius XM 8.27.77 show - did you notice the sudden volume increase on #26, You're My World by Helen Reddy (eventually goes back to normal). I believe this happened with same song from previous week that Sirius XM played (probably the 7.30.77 show).

When I found out that Rick Dees was playing 1986 for the 3rd week in a row, I almost didn't listen because I didn't want to be subjected to the same songs for another week. But once I did start listening, I was glad I did because it was a new show for me and new content.

The official word comes from SIRIUS XM 70s On 7, so you can expect to hear a chart from 1972. I believe that faeden posted his prediction of which year will be featured.

The 70s on 7 page at the Sirius / XM site links to the facebook fan page, so maybe they changed their mind and went with 1972.
Someone posted that Sunday JBJ played a song from 1976 and said that would be the year of this week's AT40 as well. Hopefully, they'll clear things up soon for those who listen.

I'm glad you got a confirmation. I wonder why they changed their mind.

I guess then it's 9/16/72, which if so would make this the second week in a row that they've played an AT40 which ended with a song that made a huge jump to #1, only to fall back the next week. Last week it was "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey"; this one would be Three Dog Night's "Black and White", which moved from 9 to 1. (Though 9/9/72 wouldn't surprise me since lately they've looked a bit backward in countdown dates.)

I wish they would get off the early 70's, the last few weeks have been 1973, 1971, 1970 and now 1972. They never seem to get stuck in the late 70's I've noticed. They'll go to 1979 or '78 and then jump back to the start of the decade for awhile.
