^Probably 8/23/75, since SXM usually only extends outward for a show date through Sunday of the upcoming weekend. (That is why I incorrectly predicted 8/26/78 .)

It is 8/23/75 and as Pete noted in his book, they played the wrong song by the Osmonds. Was thinking as it played that this is not the version of "The Proud One" that I am familiar with!
And a song I was not familiar with either but a correct song is the Temps' "Glasshouse". If you thought Billy Joel was the first one to use the breaking glass sound effect in his intro to "You May Be Right" from the Lp called Glass houses, you are wrong. The Temps did it on this song except instead of opening the song with it as Billy did, the Temps ended the song with it.
And another song I am not familiar with would be the last of Three Dog Night's 21 consecutive top 40 hits, "Til the World Ends". Casey says it is written by Dave Loggins who wrote their "Pieces of April" and this song has a similar feel to Pieces.

I'm wondering if some DJ somewhere played the two songs back to back, "connecting" the breaking glass. If not, perhaps there was a commercial for auto insurance in between the two songs.

Did anyone else besides me think that the audio on the 8/23/75 show SXM broadcast was subpar? If almost sounded like the stream was more compressed or something like that. Further confirms my suspicion that the quality of their service is getting worse, not better.

Hmmm...does this mean 9/3/77 (given the way SXM schedules shows, it would figure to be). If so, this is a show they aired two years ago, and posted as the show they were going to air on this weekend last year before changing to 9/6/75.

Probably; that date is closest, and that was Labor Day weekend that year. But they last did 1977 just four weeks ago, and that also immediately followed 1975. By contrast, it's been at least two months since they last did 1971, 1974, 1978, or 1979 (though this week in 1978 AT40 was guest-hosted and is therefore out.)

My money is on 8/27/77. SXM likes to go back into the month that just ended plus they rarely play shows that aired just 2 years ago.

Did it end up being that date?

They just started a song that was on last week's show and this week's Premeire show... Fight the Power. Going to be real late this time. Did not really edit out the 4 letter word either...lol
Yes it is 8/27/77. Now this will be interesting. The historical highlight of this show is the tribute to Elvis. But the song played is not from the 70s. Will they edit out possibly the most important part of this show?

Will they edit out possibly the most important part of this show? They cut "Suspicious Minds". If they weren't going to play that then why didn't they play the following week, which at least lines up better with this weekend's dates, or another year? There are 6 other years they haven't played since they last did 1977, which was just four weeks ago.

It's stupid that they cut Suspicious Minds, the song was a late 1969 hit, so yes it's from the '60's but falls into the '70's. And given that it was part of a tribute to Elvis and this is the 35th anniversary of his death, it should have been left in. Besides, when they do the VJ countdown for 1980 you get a lot of left over 1979 songs. Just air the d**n countdowns as they were originally intended.

^Good points. Plus that was the live version of "Suspicious Minds". So that WAS recorded in the 70s!

SXM is having a free trial right now. Plus, it was a "KC" weekend and the countdown actually featured a tune by Harry Wayne! It wasn't like a few years ago when they had a Donna Summer summer weekend and played an AT40 from the early 70s. I heard about the free trial. I wish I could listen but I don't have satellite radio.

Gotta be 9/4/71 since SXM aired 9/11/71 last year. Of course, Premiere aired 9/4/71 last year, so those of us that recorded that show can take a week off from SXM...
