Anyone have the email address for the 80s on 8 station? I'm already going to email the 70s guy about the show selection, he's been very responsive in the past regarding other issues, so I thought I'd see what he had to say about the preponderance of 1975 and 1971 shows lately!

I just received the following email from John Clay regarding the selection of shows for 70s on 7:
Steve-
Thanks for your message. There is an explanation regarding the imbalance of AT40 shows: we do not have access to all shows from the entire decade at once. When we first started running Casey last August, the company that owns the shows sent is a batch of shows to last a year, and they were not well-balanced across the decade. The good news is that in a couple of months I’ll get to order another year’s worth of shows, and I’ve already made a plan that spreads the shows nicely around the decade. In the mean time I’m making-do with what is available, while keeping the shows as close within original months. Hope this explains things. Until then you’ll also hear a few end-of-year show, which actually is refreshing. Here’s the coming schedule:
Broadcast dates: Original AT40 date:
6/2 & 6/6 5-8-71
6/9 & 6/13 Top Hits of 1971, part 1 (#100-51)
6/16 & 6/20 Top Hits of 1971, part 2 (#50-1)
6/23 & 6/27 6-23-79
6/30 & 7/4 Top Hits of the 1970’s
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for listening!

There's one problem with that answer. AT40 did not do a top 100 of 1971. In fact, they didn't do their first top 100 countdown until 1974. So the 1971 date has to be wrong. I hope it will be 74 or 75 but we will have to wait and see.

It seems like most of the next month are repeats, and I believe that the only Top 100 they've done so far is 1976--which they did back around New Years...we'll have to keep checking the XM website which usually lists the programs about 10-12 days in advance.

If they are doing repeats, it will be either 76 or 78. Those are the only year end countdowns they have done so far.

The only reason I pick that nit is that I would LOVE to hear the '78 year end. I'd love to hear a '78 show from June, for that matter (several of my favorite '70s songs were all on the countdown at the same time) -- but I'm not holding out hope.

Whoa -- according to the XM calendar, it'll be the '78 year end! Please, please, please be true. . .

Today's 80's on XM date is not listed on the web site.
It was June 19th 1982, in case you want to catch the repeat. Don't know if this was a re-run. I hadn't heard this on XM. Next week it's June 4th 1988.

It was a rerun as I'd heard this show before. But it was one that they haven't done too much, so it was nice to hear it again. I knew it was gonna be the 1982 show as it said that for Thursday's schedule

I am so glad I read the posts before doing my own as a lot of my questions have been answered. More specific, about why we always seem to have the same years played. In my opinion it does not even matter to me anymore if they play a countdown that coincides with the current date or around it ,if it means getting a different year...... At any rate I still love listening to Casey....

There was something missing from today's (6/9) broadcast of AT40 on XM. It happened near the very end of the show when the closing theme was playing, and I can only hope this was a technical mistake. Did anyone else catch this? Didn't hear it, so don't leave us hanging...what happened???

The only thing I noticed was that they cut Shuckatoom a bit short. In fact, they cut it off at the split second before the actual "Shuckatoom" line, so I found myself yelling out the word in vain (I'm glad no one was in the room with me).
Honestly, I don't really care that much about whether the closing themes are intact. But maybe he was referring to something else.
