There was something missing from today's (6/9) broadcast of AT40 on XM. It happened near the very end of the show when the closing theme was playing, and I can only hope this was a technical mistake. Did anyone else catch this? Didn't hear it, so don't leave us hanging...what happened??? They cut away from the show right at the moment during the closing theme before the voices shout "Shuckatoom!" And this happened after they (XM 70s) pledged that they would not cut off the outro or closing theme music for AT40 anymore. Then again, this could have been a technical error, just like that 1975 show where parts of the countdown were mixed up on the Saturday airing, but they were fixed when the same show re-aired that Wednesday. Hopefully, that's all it was.

Or they used the same recording they used before the promise was made. John Clay, the Programming Director there, is very good about answering and solving complaints so I'd be sure to drop him a line like Tacomalo did.

I wonder why, whenever they play the June 4 1988 show (like this past weekend), Casey ends it by stating it's the June 11 show. Perhaps a mistake in the re-mastering?

Actually that problem showed up in the batch of shows used for the previous broadcast of AT40 on 80s on 8 in 2002-2003 (Casey Kasemas). Some of us follow the Billboard Hot 100 charts whenever the shows are broadcast, both now and in 2002-2003 and found this discrepancy then. Makes me wonder if that batch ofshows, with all their errors, are still being used instead of those remastered by Shannon and provided this time around.

I think it happened in the re-mastering of it, because I have a copy from the original vinyls that I believe says "Straight from the official Billboard chart for the week ending June 4, 1988". I will check for sure, but I am almost positive that is what Casey says.

Upcoming XM 70s shows: I emailed John Clay this AM to find out when they would get their order of fresh shows. He indicated that they would start playing the new batch of shows on September 1.
I also asked him if they'd be replaying any more shows from 1970 (I love the early shows the most). He indicated that the 7/25/70 (chart date) would be played on July 14 and 18, and he'd likely replay the 8/8/70 (chart date) show in August.

My recording of today's 70s (Top 50 songs of decade) was seriously screwed up during a 5 minute stretch starting with Rod Stewart's "Tonight's the Night." On the recording, it squeakes and cuts in and out, before disappearing completely. On the DVR (from DirecTV) recording, the same squeaking and breaking is there, but the silence didn't record. I figure either 1) something was wrong with the feed, or 2) my satellite reception was interfered with (it's raining hard here). Anyone else have a problem?

I've provided a list of specials to the 80s channel that haven't been heard for a while.
I took the opportunity one step further and suggested they consider airing the July 25, 1988 show guest-hosted by Hall & Oates. That's probably the most recognized name -- from a general listening audience perspective -- of all guest hosts from the classic Casey Kasem era. I would be interested to see if you agree or disagree with the suggestion.

^^^ I'd like to hear the Hall & Oates guest-hosted show on XM too.
XM 80's is doing 7/10/1982 this week... definitely a pleasant surprise ;D

oops, that came out of nowhere.
When I heard Ebony and Ivory at #3, I thought it was going to be 5/8/82, which is one I've been craving to hear for a while. But then I realized that they were catching E&I on its way down. Oh well.

This week on the 80's channel they aired the show from 8/29/87. Was that either played in the early days of the return, or is it one of the shows from the Flashback era being re-run over and over again on that internet channel? I swear I have heard it before.

I noticed in the XM guide that this week the XM 80s show is listed as August 19, 1985--which is an incorrect date. Did anyone catch Sunday's show and find out what date the show really was? ... maybe 8/17/85?

Yes, it was 8/17/85. I'm planning on listening to it on a cross-country flight this afternoon. This week's listing is even more ambiguous. It is most likely 3/5/88, though it could also be from March of '87 or June of '88 (you have to see it to know what I mean). I'll be out of town, so I'd appreciate if someone posts which show is actually played so I'll know whether to tape the rerun.
