THE SHUCKATOON IS BACK!
John Clay confirmed it in an email to me this morning and I just checked my recording of the show, and it is definitely back in all its glory.
On a sader note, there seemed to be a lot of XM on 80s type errors on the show as I was fast forwarding through it today, either my DVR is getting tempramental or the 70s guys were splicing up the show pretty bad, it went from #15 to #9 at one point, then skipped back...this happen to anyone else?

JUST GOT ANOTHER EMAIL FROM JOHN CLAY RE: TODAY'S SHOW (THE XMFAN WEBSITE HAD A NUMBER OF COMMENTS ON TODAY'S GLITCHES)
Yes, we got many e-mails. A computer malfunction caused the scrambling. I’ve checked Wednesday’s repeat, and it looks ok. J

I happened to catch yesterdays broadcast of the May 10,1975 show on XM. Once it got to around #17 or so,the computers were going haywire. I started a separate thread about this on the XM website. Like I mentioned there,I feel for the fans who might have been trying to record that. Casey's intros and outros were all messed up with different songs popping in and out. If I didn't already have that show on CD-R,I might have really been ticked. But from what I understand--and I don't listen to AT40 on XM all that often because of the shows I already own--these glitches happen more often than not. John Clay, the PD for XM's 70's channel apparently emailed somebody and said the glitches had been corrected for Wednesdays rebroadcast. So those of you still hoping to record that show have a bit of hope for the coming week!

I recorded it of AOL radio - same problems here. Thanks for mentioning it, this will give them time to fix it before running the show again.

Oh man. I recorded it but I hadn't listened to it yet. I guess I can delete it and try again Wednesday (EDIT: I just listened to the teens. What a disaster).
As for the 80s, I'm dying to get some April/May action from 1983 and 1984. I hope they can get off their 80/87/88 fetish before summer rolls around.

Just finished listening to tonight's rebroadcast of AT40 from May 10, 1975, and it was just perfect!! No glitches like there were on Saturday (no cutting back and forth from the intro of one song to the outro of another, etc.), and we got to hear the hour-outro and show-closing music in full!! Ahhh yess!! AT40 the way it was meant to be!! Kudos to XM 70s for showing that they truly care about their listeners. Regarding another poster's desire for XM 80s to air more AT40 shows from 1983 and 1984, I can feel for you bud!! I've noticed that XM 70s has had a similar fixation regarding AT40 shows from 1971, 1975 and 1979 for the past couple of months. I, too, would like to hear more AT40 countdowns from, say, 1972 or 1976. I must admit, though, I am a bit anxious to hear one of these AT40 countdowns from September-October 1979 that, according to what I read, replaced the then-current "Shuckatoom" with a different opening theme. Maybe if XM is still running AT40 by this fall, they will run at least one of those shows. I'm sure, or at least I hope, that both XM 70s and 80s are working as hard as they can to get a larger variety of AT40 shows to the air. Let's just keep our ears open.

This has to be the first time XM's ever done a guest-hosted show! It's 5/26/84, which Charlie Van Dyke hosted.

What's next, a show hosted by Shadoe? Not likely, of course. But if they're playing a Charlie Van Dyke show, why not? ;D

Kind of interesting to hear a non-Casey Kasem hosted countdown, by the way the announcer on most of the late 80's AT40 shows who says the "American Top 40 has been brought to you by..." sounds an awful lot like Charlie Van Dyke as well, anybody know if that is actually him or not?

Anyone got any hint which 80's show is to be aired this weekend (May 27'th)? Maybe.....just maybe, XM might wind up airing that AT40 show from May 3, 1980, the one they were supposed to air on May 13, but yanked in favor of the one from February 1982 that they already aired a couple of months back.

I think it's more likely that they'll air one of those overplayed 1988 shows. I wouldn't mind if it were the June 1988 show they'd done before, but the April and August 1988 shows they've done way too much!

It's November 8, 1986. Another one of the overplayed shows.

What?? 1986 again? I was so SO hoping to hear the May 3, 1980 AT40 show. XM seriously needs to get its act together and not keep repeating certain shows and/or years so blinking often!! I mean really!! In the past three months or so, all of the AT40 shows on XM 70s have been from either 1971, 1975 or 1979. Does sound peculiar to anyone else, and are they as frustrated as I am? How about some more 1972, 1976, 1973, 1974 and 1977 shows? And getting back to the 80s, why DID XM suddenly decide to scrap that May 3, 1980 show? I was also hoping they would air one of the April 1980 AT40's, but they never did. I heard that the program director for XM 80s does not really care for AT40, well, maybe they should find someone who DOES care about the show. Just a thought.

Does anyone have any authoritative info on what pool of shows they draw from? There might be a logical reason that they favor certain years. On the other hand, they might just be making bad choices.
If they have access to most or all of the shows, then it would make the most sense to do a simple rotation by year -- that way a year would be repeated every 12 weeks, which means a high percentage of songs that hit the top 20 would be played during a year, and only the longest running songs would be repeated.
Given the gaps in my own collection, I was greatly hoping for a May/June 1986 show (or 1982) -- but late '86 again? Geez.
