Casey mentioned on the show-- 4 live recordings made it to #1--Fingertips by Stevie Wonder, My Ding A Ling by Chuck Berry, Thank God I'm A Country Boy by John Denver & Got To Give It Up by Marvin Gaye (a studio recording that used 'party noise'). As I mentioned above, I am surprised he didn't mention Bennie & the Jets (Elton John) as a live recording (perhaps the staff found out it really wasn't live --or Memorex). By the way, another Marvin Gaye hit (What's Goin' On) also had 'party noise'.

Probably 7/17/76? SXM likes to go backwards on the date, but 5-6 days might be a little too much for 7/10/76.

SXM aired July 17, 1976 last year. This weekend's show should be from July 10, 1976. July 16-17, 2022: Now let’s go back to this week in 1976 - Gary Wright - July 17, 1976

Again, maybe it's just my ears, but did the pitch on "Silver Star" sound a little 'off' to anyone else? And while we're focusing on that song, what a weak follow-up single to a big #1 hit!

"Save Your Kisses For Me" is one insipid song. Sounds like something those not-too-attractive girl singers on "The Benny Hill Show" would sing back then. ...but then it's followed by the sheer awesomeness of "I'm Easy", in it's original "Nashville" soundtrack acoustic greatness. Carradine did his song no favor by 'sweetening' it with strings on his album that came out in '76, year after the original soundtrack version was released.

Wheel of Casey: January 1, 1972--which is to say the 1971 year end show. (Just the original top 40, not the other half Ken Martin constructed that I don't think anyone other than Premiere is authorised to play.)

Compared to the "high energy" Disco Casey, the Top 40 of 1971 countdown featured Casey with his mellowest delivery.

Last year SXM aired May 18, 1974 and then waited 16 weeks before airing the next 1974 show in September. The last 1974 show aired on the weekend was on April 1 (March 30, 1974). That was 16 weeks ago. I like July 20, 1974 for this weekend.
