The site still shows AT40 scheduled in its regular time slots this weekend; I think they’ve broke into these in-house mega-countdown specials before for Casey, at least in his regular weekend time slots.
Exactly which show to be played might be tricky, as every July 4 weekend in the 70s after 1971 (which we get from Premiere) had a special, and of them, likely only those from 1974, 78, and 79 were 70s-centered enough to pass muster with SXM 7. Though they could go back a few days for some late-June dated shows, and of course there’s always the debut show which often gets played at some other point this time of year, possibly on the Fourth itself.

Top 1000 of the 70's all weekend?

Top 1000 of the 70's all weekend? The law of averages says that's approximately 100 songs from each of the decade's 10 years. And while I have no knowledge of their sources for tabulation purposes, I can't help but wonder if Billboard's yearly Top 100 recaps worked their way into the Top 1000 survey. Perhaps a local record store has free-for-the-taking, printed copies of the complete list.

The results are supposedly based on listener votes--although there is no 'printed' list available (me thinks something is rotten in Denmark).

Wheel of Casey this week: August 14, 1971. (So everything is probably back to normal this coming weekend.)

Oh my goodness, Casey just called Got To Give It Up by Marvin Gaye a live recording that hit #1 (and forgot to mention Bennie & the Jets). Both Elton's and Marvin's hit were songs recorded in the studio--I wonder if this 'error' ever got corrected.

Also two others, "My Ding A Ling" by Chuck Berry and "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" by John Denver. Any others?
In this countdown from 1977, "Devil's Gun" by CJ and Company" debuts, and peaked at #36, which I belive is the lowest charting record to make the Top 100 of the year.

Was the first "Fingertips" by Stevie Wonder?
