Was there a reason why there wasn't a Long Distance Dedication this past weekend?

This weekend's edition of "AT10" (5/9 & 5/10) spotlights songs by famous moms such as Gwen Stefani,Cher,& Madonna.

Hey, isn't Britney Spears is a more famous mom than most of those who were spotlighted? I wonder if AT10 will ever play any of her songs.

"AT10" would probably play a Britney Spears song-However,it had to make the AC chart-I have Joel Whitburn's AC Hits book-I'll do a little research & post something within a day or so.

Other noted moms I can run off that were not "spotlighted" this past weekend: Diana Ross, Gladys Knight, Aretha Franklin, Christina Aguilera, Chrissie Hynde (the Pretenders), Pat Benatar, Carly Simon, Anne Murray, Helen Reddy. These are names that come to mind.
Btw mr. jukebox, Madonna was not one of the spotlight features, but her song "Crazy For You" was a Long Distance Dedication.

This weekend's show (5/16 - 5/17) spotlights songs with people's names in the title.

According to my copy of Joel Whitburn's "Top Adult Contemporary Hits" 1961-2001,Britney Spears has managed to place one of her hits on the AC chart-The song was "Sometimes" & it peaked at #11 in the summer of 1999.

I heard a feature called "Underneath The Top 10"on this week's show-Is this a new feature?-It reminded me of the "Sneek Peek" feature that was on "AT40" during the Shadoe Stevens era.

I've only been listening to AT10 since January and I've heard other songs that were on the chart below #10 that had not yet cracked the Top 10.
BTW does AT10 (or AT20) have a sponsor for the #1 song now? I thought I heard Mike mention this inbetween the last optional Extra ("I Try") and the Spotlight song "Jack And Diane".

It just seems like AT10 just does want to play anything by Britney Spears for whatever reason. The same also seems to apply to Debbie Gibson, but since she was an 80's artist, nobody notices or even cares. As far as the "Underneath" segments goes, Casey started doing that within the last month or so. There is sometimes a sponsor for the "Book of Records" or for some song intro, though the harsh economic climate probably makes it impossible to have a featured advertiser every week.

I believe Pet Smart is the main sponsor for AT10,AT20,as well as "AT40-The 70's" & "AT40-The 80's".

I believe Pet Smart is the main sponsor for AT10,AT20,as well as "AT40-The 70's" & "AT40-The 80's". I think that Bose and Century 21 also sponsor, because the shows include newly recorded commercials by Casey for them. (Incidentally, I recently visited my parents and they recently adopted a dog from Petsmart Charities, as Casey tells us to. The "Underneath" is a promising feature, though a bit unexpected given Casey's previous resistance to including a similar feature on AT40, in contrast to its other hosts (Shadoe's "Sneek Peek" or Seacrest's "AT40 Breakout".) But since AT10 is less strictly a countdown show, there is more room for extra features.

Casey's previous resistance to this feature? News to me.
However, assuming that's true in terms of Casey's days doing a top 40 show, the same argument wouldn't apply to doing so on AT10. Since the "chart" portion of that show contains only ten positions, songs ranked right below the top 10 are still considered "hits." I still remember the track record of the "Sneek Peek" on Shadoe's AT40 being less than stellar, as there was more of a "predictive" nature to the "Sneek Peek" songs than something that is charting so close to the top ten.

What I meant was that I don't think that Casey ever had a Sneek Peek/Breakout type feature when he hosted AT40. But I may be wrong on that. I didn't think of the distinction pointed out here, which makes good sense; a song at #11 or 12 on its particular chart should be a natural for inclusion as an extra on a top 10 countdown show, while predicting what will be a hit from further down on the chart seems to involve more guesswork.

When Casey hosted the original incarnation of "AT40" from 1970-1988,he never spotlighted a song that had hit potential-I've heard airchecks of Casey when he was on KRLA back in the 60's & he used to say in introducing a new song:"This is the KRLA Pick Hit Of The Week".
