Trying to guess todays "Summer hits special" show date.......Rick just mentioned that they are just past the halfway point of summer. So w/ 13 weekends in the summer of 93, starting w/ the last weekend of June thru the 3rd weekend of September. With that, my theory is todays show is from 8/14/93.

When the #1 song was UB40's remake of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love", as I recall from hearing that broadcast the weekend it first aired.

Except XM botched up the ending of the show. Top5 never aired.

XM 90's is doing 8/22/98. I have a copy of this show, so it was easy to match up.

For those who don't have the...ummmm....pleasure of hearing it, we are once again treated to a thrown together Rick Dees Weekly Top 40..or...10....or whatever special. This weeks special presentation gives us the top 10 songs from 2005, 2006, 2007, and based on what I saw on another site, I guess this week's top 10. His website shows the Top 10 from 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 but it has begun with 2005 and as I said, based on what I saw on another site, 2004 is not presented at all. So even his site can't get it right.

Yep, it was 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. I skimmed through the first segment, and most of the songs were dead-segued with nothing from Rick in between.

One WT40 show that I hope that XM will broadcast in December is the "Millenium Countdown" (the Top 80 of the 1990s) which was broadcast as the last show of December 1999. Nothing thrown together about that show and Rick did a fine job.

^The only gripe I have about that show are that there are several songs that spent multiple weeks at #1 missing. The one that stands out in my mind is "Rush Rush" by Paula Abdul.
But I am glad that "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia was number one instead of that annoying Donna Lewis song!

That song drove me nuts. In the late summer and fall of 1996 and even into early 1997, it seems as if everytime you turned around, you'd hear "I Love You Always Forever". I worked as a courier at that time and I quit listening to the radio in the car I used because it seemed as if everytime I turned it on, that song would be playing.
"Torn" is a much better song and deserves the honor it got on the "Millenium Countdown".
