This is nothing really strange or confusing. The first show of the new year has always refered to the LAST WEEKLY CHART of December, the week before Christmas and before the YE charts were published. Since there is no new chart during the production date of the first show, this practice is good for about 16 years now, as long as they use R&R charts on Casey's shows.

I hoped it would be Lifehouse at the Top, but I didn't need any calculation to know the results before. If a BIG number 1 song comes in early in the year, it is always set to be the top song of the year. And for this past year, it could only be "Boulevard"
Unfortunately Lifehouse came in too late 2005. They will be charting well in the YE charts of 2006 as well. Probably the same sad destiny like Maroon 5 "She will be loved" ...... 2 high YE positions, but not enough in a single year to enter the top position.
By the way: It's the second time for Lifehouse, that they missed the YE top spot for just a blink of an eye. They were also close in 2001, with the song they had also on in 2002.

So far, the optional extras in hours 1 and 2 have been Christmas extras. It is great to hear Christmas music on AT20 this weekend! Also, is it just me, or is Casey promoting the Year-End countdown more than usual? He always mentions it a few times on the last two regular shows of the year, but he has probably mentioned it 4 or 5 times already and the show still has a ways to go. He sounds excited about it! We're all soooooo happy to hear Christmas Music, because 2 months of christmas music on AT10 is never enough ! ;D And it is just you, because promoting the YE show is business as usual, just as every year.

Whatever you got here in this special case, it's not an editing mistake by the producers. It's an operations mistake by the station. Heard the show on several stations and they all played it correctly - correct story, correct song. And editing mistake is someting like I was originally posting here to start this topic.

Well usually some of you discover each and every small mistake made with the programmes, like a wrong jingle or a false announcement of movers .....
I have waited 2 weeks if someone will come in with this thread, but this time NON OF YOU discovered one of the badest editing mistakes since June of 2002, when Casey repeated himself the last time ( wich entered as key date in the history of the programme on Rob's website ):
On the AT20 show of 11-19-05 in hour 2 when Casey announced the story to the AT20-Extra hit "Take my Breath away" by Berlin, he repeated the phrase "A HIT FROM A MOVIE ABOUT JET PILOTS" right away for a second time .......
Usually some of you pull the mudd on the staff, when mistakes happen. This time time the mudd is on YOU diehard fans, because NON of you has noticed this mistake. I would not blame the staff for something like this, because who ever worked with sound editors on computers knows how fast and simple these things happen.

I miss the station mentions on AT20/AT10. It was the best update I had to know if a certain station still aired Casey or not. I have already written my e-mail to request for bringing them back. Hopefully lot's of you will do the same ! It is a classic part of Casey's shows, like the LDD and the teasers.

I have noticed Casey has still yet to do station mentions since the Dec. 3-4, 2005 show. I assume he is not doing station mentions on AT10 either. I miss hearing all of the different affiliates each week and hearing all of the different cities AT20 is being heard on..as well as hearing the station mentions of my affiliate. If you miss the station mentions during the show, then there is only one thing to do: Ask for it at casey1110@aol.com and tell Lorre Crimi you want get it back on the show. Since this is no official website, it will probably get no attention from the producers. It's always the best way to ask for the show directly at casey1110@aol.com The more people asking for it, the better's the chance we get station mentions back on air soon !

This has happen several times during the past few years. It is nothing unusual with AT20. The last time it happened on the Charlie Tuna show this fall.

I wish for situations like this, premiere FORCED their affiliates to run the show as you said. In fact, personally I would like to see a return of the full countdown in 1 week format of the old AT40 days. Perhaps let AT20 stations run a Christmas show of some kind Christmas weekend since it is pretty much a throw away week radio show wise anyway. I believe the day when affiliates will be FORCED to do this or that with the show will be the last day they sold that programme to these stations ...... at least for the non Clear Channel stations that is. Thank god their is a large number of non CC outlets with Casey's programmes.

But what will be "the common practice" for AT20's year end this year? Will Part 1 be a rarity - airing only on those few stations that do not break from all-holiday programming? Or will Premiere make all affiliates run the entire show at some point? I wouldn't mind a 6 hour marathon on New Years afternoon. But I doubt that would happen. Since the beginning of man kind it was always allowed to run and/or re-run one or two part yearend shows on new years eve, new years day or between the years. This is a well known practice for all syndicated countdown shows on stations, who like to do so. There is no special agreement needed for that; Other's there wouldn't be a need to produce a yearend show for holiday dates.

I want you to notice this rare chart mistake on the R&R HOT AC charts: Kelly Clarkson's "Since U been gone" ranked at #9 on this weeks new chart, but she's also listed as the most played RECURRENT with this song. Haven't seen something like this very often on R&R www.radioandrecords.com/Formats/Charts/HAC_Chart.aspWell this has nothing to do with AT20 in detail, but since AT20 is the official countdown of the HAC charts, I thought it might belong to this board section.

What we hear recently on AT20 is very simpel: Just a little more in Variety. Nothing special behind some small changes. For example the "AT20 is hear in the 50 states and around the world" - thing. It is back and / or mixed with the other phrase "AT20 is heared in the 50 states coast to coast". And it has nothing to do with if there are international affiliates or not. Because you can hear the show around the world if you like.
I believe it's the same for the extra's: Some week we have lot's of 80's, in other weeks we have only 90's and 00's. Can't think of some argue like: "Can we play another 80's song this week, or may this hurt some stations" ...... I'm doing absolutely fine with this kind of variety. It makes the show fresh and a surprise to listen every week.

BrettVWWhat ever the reason for playing that Jet song might be, it happened several times over the past few years, that they might play an extra from "earlier this year". I think it happend more on the AC show, than on the HAC show. But it DID happen several times before. Eventually they don't look that close on what years to pick songs from the past. Maybe they just look back what hit was really big and/or seemed to be good for a play. As for the guesthosts: When I called them "stupid", this was more for the choice of the producers, by going with the wrong people ( and too many times with them ). They really haven't brought a big radio talent for guesthosting for the biggest of all. The hosts themselves are not really stupid on their own jobs. But they might sound stupid doing it for Casey. But it's not to blame for them, only for the people who choose the ones.

I believe it's only natural to put in more 90's and 00's hits, as the 80's are moving far and far behind and becoming more like "oldies" today. Other's the show would've get an 80's format, wich I believe there are already to many shows for that segment on air. Don't forget about the typical age for a HAC listener ....... these are not all 80's people.
As for the Jet song I think it's nothing very unusual. They've done it many times before and I think this song still has lot's of airplay on HAC radio outlets, even it's not one of the Top 5 recurrents. I believe there is still a need for a song like this. Other's were discussed before: Like when Finger Eleven or Maroon 5 had a "big hit from one year ago this week" ...... even they were just at the beginning of their countdown marathon.
I can't see a loss in quality @ AT20 lately. Maybe just some small accuracy like always before on the AT20's. With the outstanding performance Casey does recently and with no stupid guesthosts lately, I think the show has get in a win situation.

That's right Paul; There is no need for Premiere to SEND them. Affiliates have access to a certain ftp site, where they can download the needed content. Also I've discovered that some operator has accidentally grabbed the wrong programme, wich means AT10 instead of AT20 or something like that. Also there might be the same reason when downloading the wrong airdate, wich they may have available for 2 weeks or so.
So as for NOT receiving the show - if it's not for the fading CD clients - it's is ALWAYS the board operator's mistake.
