As I listen to this weeks LDD on the 80s show, I was just wondering if they would still use a Long Distance Dedication by someone named OSAMA these days on the show Just wondering .....

This weekend's (8/6-7/08) edition of "Casey Kasem's American Top 40: The 80s" will, predicatably, feature a rebroadcast of the show from 20 years ago today...Casey Kasem's last ABC/Watermark show...8/6/88. I PREDICT this weekend will be 8/9-10/08, as it is only August right now, not September. And since we all "enjoy" the early predictions right next to the current event, I PREDICT the other weekend will be the one dated 8/16-17/08. And I GUESS this will put me in a lead of possible predictions out here .......

I do believe that this will be the first guest hosted show that AT40 the 80s has run. I think this is a great idea. I would love to hear 7-30-88 with Hall & Oates sometime. Maybe next week!! Sorry, but you're a dreamer ! Do you believe they will do 2 (in words TWO !!!) guesthosted programmes within a month ( or within just a few months ) ?? NEVER !!! Forget it ! The release is called "American Top 40 with Casey Kasem - The 80s" ....... not "American Top 40 - The Guesthosts". Also it is well known that the Hall & Oates show from 1988 was a low point in Guest Host quality. Premiere is overjumping their own shadow if they will do that Charlie Van Dyke show, wich I think is absolutely GREAT !!! But I believe about it only after I heard the into this weekend.

So, what the fuss? Scott L. said last week's show was going to be 6/6/87, and so it was. No guessing, no predicting, no useless speculations - just plain, reliable facts. Sorry folks, but I'd wish that more of you would stick to that. You're absolutely right, Best71; I have never understood the importance of knowing the broadcast days and days before. And no predictions and guessings: It should be learned from Casey to go with reliable facts only ..... But wait what happened if that "very special" year will not appear within the next couple of weeks ....... ! Then you will face here massive discussions about it .... together with that unconcealed clamor: "I want 81 !" Someone here reminded about that on that old board from this website, back at the Flashback days in '01 and '02. And hey: I want 81 .... and I want it now !

pzimm7700Caseyfan4everRyanfanNeverIt is true that the Seacrest thread is dormant, wich - in my eyes - reflects the true interest in this programme. It is called "American Top 40", but as I mentioned in the past, it is not in the box what most of us out here reflect to be. Not another host for the same programme, but a different programme with the name of something very familiar. You can put it on hundreds of stations, the interest for this might not be the same as a Casey show on a much smaller number of outlets. Talking about Casey and AT10/AT20 does not naturally mean to be a true fan of Casey. Sometimes I think: Do they know what they are talking about ? Are they giving that much support to Casey and the staff as they diserve for entertaining us for nearly 4 decades ? Some of the "Fans" on this board are just posting to get noticed. They have to say something about each and everything ..... and due to that declare themselves as "FANS" of Casey and the show. If they would be FANS, they would think about their thoughts BEFORE they post them to the eyes of the world. Many threads sound like if they are Anti-Casey, so Charlie is right ! I'm for the freedom of speech, but sometimes I wish Scott would be a little rougher on deleting messages and dropping people from the board. The quality of this board should be "less is more" to honor the countdown master and his work. It should be noticed, that the known and accredited biggest fans of Casey have the fewest postings on this board. That should make SOME people think about it.

Hey Jason,
good news ! Thanks for posting about this ! Couldn't think of a better voice for promoting the channel. You haven't seen anything like that on this site lately ...... because it seems SOME of the people out here are busy with "predicting" and "guessing" and speculating about Casey's end and who might get his job on the 2 shows. But I think Casey always knew: If you don't go forward, you go backwards. If you don't change things, they'll change you.

Lord I'm getting old, I have heard of six of those artists...don't know the rest. Didn't you hear AT20 from time to time ? Just wondering ? Beeing at the wrong community out here ? No problem ! You can find many informations about the shows here from different fan experts.

What do you expect from a man in his mid-seventies++ who had a stroke ? Since the recovery went so slow, it was clear he would never be the same again.
That's why we are so lucky and have to thank God every day that Casey is in good health condition and maybe has good gene for a long and healthy life.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I guess we'll find out the hard way on Aug 18'th show(s) - at latest... It should be the first one(s) using only Mediabase chart or something completely different... History's in making... one way or the other... There is no hard way for this ....... as at20fantoo mentions above: There would be no change for the shows, except Casey's saying that this is seen in Radio & Records. The shows are using Mediabase charts for years now. What change do you expect ? I can't imagine the ATxx shows would move over to an expensive use of the new Radio & Records or whatever charts, when they have a good source in their own house for free.

Absolutely. And may I also say after listening to portions of Rick Dees' Top 100 Hot AC show tonight, that Ryan's AT40 is not half bad. Great Year-End recap from him these last two weekends. Honestly, Ryan Seacrest, you are a great talent!! The class he has shown with Dick tonight is remarkable. As I mentioned above: Oh holy Ryan, ...... Amen !

I watched up until about 12:03am, and I thought for what I saw Ryan did a good job. It was GREAT to see Dick Clark again. As you guys have already said, his speech still has a long way to go and I doubt he will ever be on the US Music Survey again. They need to go ahead and find his permanent successor or make the guy hosting it now the one and stop saying "in for Dick Clark." How about SEACREST as the permanent successor ? The one and only radio talent ? The God of american Radio ? The Be-all and End-all of all countdown shows ? How about another "friendly handover" of Dick's show to Ryan Seacrest ? Oh, doesn't this remind me about something else ?

Because American radio is pretty much dull these days, he is about the only recognizable fifure with the qualities I described above. Pore ol' America ! Oh my god, where has this world gone ? Where has Hollywood gone ? To lean the whole industry on one man's shoulders ? Or should we call it "Ryanwood" ??

Plus, at this point we still aren't sure what kind of role Clark will play in this year's New Years Eve program (which, again, will depend on his condition in 4 months). While he may be fit to do a one-night TV show, he may not be ready for weekly work on a radio show, which includes reading a much more detailed script in a much more crisper fashion than the TV show may require. Maybe his role is just like Casey's in his very own TV-show "America's Top 10" in the early 90's, where he has just announced something like "America's Top Hit" from the past. The other stuff was done by a "very talented, young, energetic and good looking young guy......" What was his name again ? Tommy I wonder where his talent is gone today ? At least he was that young and hip, that somebody in the production company thought he might do a better job announcing the current Top 10 videos, than Casey would do. Actually that was pretty much the end of that programme. About one and a half years later it disappeared. Not just because of the success of other media like the fulltime channel MTV. Hopefully something like that will never happen to Dick Clark. Somebody should do a job - or end it, if he can't do it anymore. But a legend needs no one of the young and wild to lean on, who holds "Hollywoods future in their hands".

OK, so first: If Clark is doing so well, why he's still out on his radio show(s) ??
And second: It's good to see here on this topic, that it's not just me getting a little tired with all this Seacrest things around. In careful words here, he's really overused these days. But this fit's perfect to our times: Take it while it's hot and take as much as you can. Guess it will be burned out soon. Does America have no other talents to lead a major event or programme ?
