Both sides of that record were played on XM 70s on 7 this morning between 6:45a-7:15a and John Clay made some comments on this. Didn't refer to anyone requesting this, though.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's the Top 40 Hits of the 1980s so far. That show was broadcast on July 4 1987 but I don't know if there was a regular weekly show that week as well. Sometimes there were and sometimes there were not.

Just checked XM online program guide and they will be broadcasting the Top hits of 1977 as part of their celebration of "all things 7", this being 07/07/07. One part of the site says they will broadcast the "Top 77 of 1977" but another just says they will broadcast the Top hits of 1977.

Unlike ABC Watermark, AM/FM and Premiere both realize the value of linking Casey to AT40 and I agree wholeheartedly with this. If you read Rob's book, you'll see that Shadoe even admitted this.
I tend to emphasize Casey somewhat as I prefer Casey's Top 40 shows to the AT40 shows at the same time and my collection reflects this. Given the choice, I would have preferred the two stay together but things didn't work out that way. Shadoe's not bad (especially when compared to Rick Dees) but in my opinion he will never be remembered as much for his years at AT40 as Casey. Casey has a magical ability to mix a sense of humor and seriousness in his narration that is hard for anyone else to replicate. Perhaps Shadoe and Ryan Seacrest appeal more to the teenage-20s crowd but for me Casey's the one I enjoy.

Really great how Casey introduces the show by playing a snippet of the first show's intro and then compares how the show sounded then and how it sounded as of mid 1999.
That must have been part of an attempt to link the "old" AT40 of 1970 to 1988, when Casey hosted, with the "new" AT40 which began in 1998 and continued until 2004. This was done again on the May 13 2000 show when he announced the publication of Rob's book and Casey spoke about some of the trivia in the book. From this we can gain some understanding how AM/FM wanted the history of AT40 to be seen:
1. Casey left AT40 in 1988 but came back in 1998. 2. Nothing about the fact that AT40 had been off the air from 1995 to 1998 3. Shadoe Stevens existed as host from 1988 to 1995 but nothing about Casey's Top 40 or what Casey was doing from 1989 to 1998. (Perhaps AM/FM considered the anger felt by Westwood One when Casey left and restarted AT40 in March 1998)
I'm going through the Casey's Top 40 shows that I have and Casey mentioned the beginning of his 20th Year in counting down the hits on one of the July 1989 shows. The focus was on Casey at that time, later the focus was on American Top 40.
Interesting isn't it.

I got the 70s show although it wasn't what was expected (a show from May 1976). Tried it on two sites and it was the show for Feb 26 1977 which you probably already have. If not, please let me know.

"They'd better hurry up and get a 1988 show in there...otherwise we won't hear one until January!"
Scott, I bet they'll do Aug 6, 1988, the last Casey show. Heck that show has been broadcast on Flashback and XM and terrestrial wouldn't have any trouble getting a copy if they don't already have it.
If they don't, I will give Scott a choice of any 1988 Casey show that I have in my collection that he doesn't already have.

Unless they choose a Shadoe show. Don't know whether or not this will happen but I can certainly wish, can't I?
Even better would be that they would choose a Casey's Top 40 show from 1989.

If the producers of AT40: the 80s are reluctant to include Shadoe AT40 shows, do you think that they would be more likely to include Casey's Top 40 shows from 1989?

Bad news!! XM went back on its word and the Salute to Casey Kasem(2 days full of AT40 shows) on XMX (channel 2) scheduled for March 22-23 has been replaced by a special on Southern Rock. I plan to email them and complain and others who wanted this show should do so as well.

Actually that problem showed up in the batch of shows used for the previous broadcast of AT40 on 80s on 8 in 2002-2003 (Casey Kasemas). Some of us follow the Billboard Hot 100 charts whenever the shows are broadcast, both now and in 2002-2003 and found this discrepancy then. Makes me wonder if that batch ofshows, with all their errors, are still being used instead of those remastered by Shannon and provided this time around.
