I can't document this but I am certain it is correct -
What 70s/80s hit was heard the most times by fathers on Father's Days during those two decades?

Can't be "Cat's In the Cradle" as that's not really a 'what a great Dad you are!' song... (Ditto for "Papa Was a Rolling Stone"--can't think of a 'Daddy equivalent' to "I'll Always Love My Mama"!)

I am SO glad I have neither heard nor heard of that song! Didn't she already publicly ream her Dad in "Because Of You"?! Give it a rest, lady!

Well, "Daddy Could Swear, I Declare" was on the chart at the same time as "I'll Always Love My Mama" (June/July 1973), including Father's Day, but that too probably isn't ideal.

Okay here is a clue - this hit has nothing to do with fathers, and it was a #1 hit.

I'd guess "Father Figure", but that came out in the late 80s, so it probably didn't get enough airplay compared to an earlier song from those two decades.

Actually , a hit from the late 90's (a #1 A/C hit) is the best Father's day song (at least father's and daughter's)--Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle.

A very popular LDD/R&D played back on the Father's Day countdowns was "The Living Years" by Mike + The Mechanics. It's a song I have difficulty listening to without choking up these days ever since my father passed away from cancer fifteen years ago. I am choking up right now even writing this.

Okay here is another clue -
It is an instrumental.

"Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross only peaked at #38 in 2003, but it can bring a tear to my eye whenever I really listen to the words.

Clapton's "My Father's Eyes' came far too late for this, apparently...
Instrumental? Hmm. In the age of Cialis and Viagra, could it be Herb Alpert's "Rise"? LOL

Okay here is another clue - It is an instrumental. I'll go with Herb Alpert's "Rise"...or maybe Rhythm Heritage's "Theme from SWAT"...no, how about Van McCoy's "The Hustle"! No wait..."Miami Vice Theme"! OK, sorry...just being a smart a$$ and throwing out instrumentals that hit #1. I don't have a clue what the answer is...
