Neither Honestly nor Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay will make my favorites list despite the weak competition in this week's '88 countdown.

Both of this week's 80s shows are pretty weak, imo. Not sure Premiere could have picked two worse February shows to pair together. The '88 show isn't terrible, but lots of slow songs and the songs from big names are far from their best.
No way in hell I'm touching that '81 show.
Favorites from the 2/13/88 show:

2/20/82 (A):Dan Fogelberg - Leader Of The BandGeorge Benson - Turn Your Love Around Huey Lewis & The News - Do You Believe In Love The Cars - Shake It Up The Go Go´s - We Got The Beat 2/21/87 (B):Benjamin Orr - Stay The NightDead Or Alive - Brand New Lover Eddie Money - I Wanna Go Back Georgia Satellites - Keep Your Hands To Yourself Peter Gabriel - Big Time An Austrian extra: Battle RoyalOtto Wanz was and is a legend, not only in Austria, when it comes to the European show ring fight. He became particularly famous for his live records in the tearing up of telephone books. Until the late 90s Otto Wanz organized wrestling events on the Vienna Heumarkt. And to make this palatable to a wider public, some of the heavyweight guys got together and recorded the song "Young, Strong And Healthy" in 1989. The idea was based on a similar product of the US wrestlers and Alex Rehak produced the Austrian version together with Otto Wanz. The fact that the wrestlers are not trained singers doesn´t bother much. The hit is funny, the lyrics simple and the music successful - and so the fighter anthem, which you still love to sing today, was finished. By the way: Vienna´s Heumarkt was often in the headlines last year, as a planned high-rise project threatened the status of Vienna´s city centre as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. But now from 1989: Battle Royal and the late Otto Wanz with "Young, Strong And Healthy": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

This week "slightly" changed due to the carnival highlight ... 3/1/86:ABC - How To Be A Millionaire Atlantic Starr - Secret Lovers Electric Light Orchestra - Calling America Heart - These DreamsSimple Minds - Sanctify Yourself Two parrots sat on a perch. One says to the other: "Do you smell fish ?"Carnival 2019 at its peakThe 5th season in Vienna is the ball season. Its highlight, the Vienna Opera Ball, takes place at the beginning of the hot phase of carnival: on the "dirty Thursday" - the first day of the 6-day fool´s final sprint before Ash Wednesday. The Opera Ball has its origins in the great dance festivals celebrated by the gentlemen of the Vienna Congress 1814-1815 in the Danube city. They had met for several months to rearrange Europe after the defeat of Napoleonic France. Their hosts, above all Emperor Franz I of Austria, wanted to make their stay a little more enjoyable. That´s why, among other things, they organized legendary balls. But more than a century passed before the first real so-called "Vienna Opera Ball" took place. But the ball culture had long since taken hold of Vienna. Artists invited the public to dance in various places, for the first time in 1877 in the Imperial Opera House. The balls had a tradition, only in times of war or when the safety of the guests required it, they failed. And from 1/1935 the most important of all dance festivals was finally called "Vienna Opera Ball". Festive clothing is an essential part of Viennese ball culture. That means at the opera ball for the men dressed in tail coats without exception, white gloves and black patent leather shoes - for the ladies: large ball dress and matching accessories. For those girls who make their debut with the flocked-up young gentlemen as a sign of growing up (who are there for the first time), this means: a snow-white ball gown without a hoop skirt, long white gloves, shoes closed at the front, little crowns in their hair and bouquets of flowers in their right hands. The "debut" is a ceremony taken from the monarchy. For about a minute, the 180 couples from home and abroad dance the left waltz with which they open the ball. Afterwards, under the command "Alles Walzer", all those present are finally allowed to swing their dancing leg. The parquet is now released. The two starting words go back to the Austrian composers Johann Strauss father and Johann Strauss son ( at40fg.proboards.com/post/151352). By the way: Nowadays the Vienna Opera Ball always takes place at the Vienna State Opera, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year on 5/25. For the following special " waltz"-edition it doesn´t necessarily have to be left waltz and tail coat, but the right sweetheart should already be available for a Viennese waltz: Billy Joel - Piano Man Dean Martin - That´s Amore Doris Day - Que Sera (Whatever Will Be Will Be) The Stranglers - Golden Brown
Tom Jones - Delilah

The other day, I was sitting on the egde of my bed, and I couldn´t remember whether I had just woken up or was going to bed." The chorus of the song consisted of a cover version of ABBA´s "S.O.S." with new lyrics. The title was sold over three million times and received a World Music Award. In 1992, Edelweiss made its comeback with "Raumschiff Edelweiss" ("Spaceship Edelweiss"), in which yodel music was mixed with the title theme of the TV series "Spaceship Enterprise". Also part of the band was Christian Clerici (also to be seen in the video), who later became famous through various TV shows. from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."
