Although the late 80s is not my favorite era musically by a longshot (heck sometimes I think the 80/81 music is better than certain weeks in 88 and definitely 89) The last year or so of Casey on AT40 is when he sounded the best IMO. He's just got that spunk and that little bit of extra personality I feel truly adds to the show. Such a shame in that the WW1 shows were so dry

I like 89 a lot more than 88.

I can listen to an AT40 or CT40 from certain parts of 1989 and not even want to hear 10 of the 40.
While there are certain parts of the early 70s that don't do much for me, 1989-1994-ish is probably the only time period I never revisit. Which is a shame because I have never really exposed myself to much Shadoe simply because I don't care for the music.

Listening to 7/10/76...Casey just introduced the Starland Vocal Band at #1 as the first 2-man, 2-woman quartet to reach the top since the Mamas and the Papas 10 years prior (and only the 2nd ever). I know there's a cheese factor to it, but I have to admit I love "Afternoon Delight"...

In the next six months or so after that, along came...Napster! P2P file sharing rocked the recording industry's world and eventually forced record companies to go back to making singles readily available via the Internet for a fraction of the cost of an album. BTW, I still don't feel a bit sorry for any of the poor record company execs who claimed to have "lost money" during that time. Their own fault they didn't see it coming an accommodate their true customers--us music listeners. What about musicians like Metallica who sued people who used Napster and the like?

9/22/79 from KOKZ. The first hour includes the "If My Friends Could See Me Now" LDD; I don't much like the song but this is the only time it was on a Casey-hosted AT40.

Winding my way through 9/22/84. Not my favorite year for music, but I feel obligated to listen to at least one show every few months from that year. One of my least favorite songs is number one this week - "Missing You" by John Waite. Overrated, overplayed.

AT40 10/19/02 waiting for a flight in your neck of the woods at the Pittsburgh Intl Airport.
I know many here have lamented on late 1984 shows but I typically enjoy them. That said, I fell asleep on the whole last hour of the 1984 show on WQSR last night, which rarely happens!!

What brings you to Pittsburgh? And don't say "An airplane". LOL
I rather enjoy the later 1984 shows. It's the April-August part of the year that drags me down.

I am currently splitting my time between Florida, Ohio, and PA. Heading to FL for a bit. 10/19/02 ended on a connection to Charlotte, now the AT40 Book of Records - 80s edition from 9/2/89

I see. That's a lot of jetting around.
I'm into the Top 10 now of 9/21/74, another year I can take or leave, depending on the time of the year.

Shadoe's Book of Records - meh. I really am a Casey guy, but so often I felt it focused on Shadoe-era music and there were times I would have chosen a better song from the artist
