FTR, the billing on "Double Barrel" is a bit misleading. It should be read as Dave...and Ansil Collins. His name is Dave Barker.

Watching Royals lose badly to the As, listening to this weeks CHR edition of AT40.

FTR, the billing on "Double Barrel" is a bit misleading. It should be read as Dave...and Ansil Collins. His name is Dave Barker. Great trivia tidbit! Even Joel Whitburn did not know that: He has them under 'C' as "Collins, Dave and Ansil! Is it Dave doing the 'toasting' (boasting rap) and Ansil playing the funky keyboard, or the other way around? Joel does note that "by 1983, known as Clint Eastwood and General Saint"! I remember buying the 45 (at K-mart) in summer '71: The second single on Big Tree Records (#115) in my then-meager collection, right after Lobo (Big Tree #112)!

Yeah, but Whitburn's books are full of mistakes. Between Mama's & Papa's mistakes, listing My Name Is by Eminem as a novelty song and Bennie & The Jets as live among other mistakes. Under the name in the description, he does say his right real name though. I guess the point of the billing was to hint that they were related in some way.

FTR, the billing on "Double Barrel" is a bit misleading. It should be read as Dave...and Ansil Collins. His name is Dave Barker. So for a few weeks in 1971, there were actually 2 songs on AT40 whose billing was a mix of full and partial names. The other was also misleading to me over the years. I heard Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds as Hamilton, Joe, Frank and Reynolds meaning it was 4 men instead of 3. Of course, this act also has the rare distinction of hitting #1 with a billing that does not match their lineup. While H, JF & R was the correct billing for "Don't Pull Your Love", it is not for their #1 hit "Fallin in Love" 4 years later as Reynolds had been replaced by Alann Dennison.

AT40 from March 23, 1974. Elton John's future #1 "Bennie and the Jets" is at #6.

A rare excursion into post 83 territory. I like the 80's but sometimes I find myself needing to really be in the mood for the show to want to hear 4 hours of it. But there are some great tunes on this one. My original copy with retro commercials, of 8-4-84.
Lee Jeans, Jamie Curtis film I've never heard of, Agree Shampoo and feminine hygiene products!

I am just finishing up the next AT40 show with a date of 8/4...the one from 1990. Historic week in AT40 history as Mariah sits on top for the first of many times and weeks. Like this diva a lot but am sorry it comes at the expense of my fave Billy Idol tune as "Cradle of Love" spends its only week at #2. Next year I will check out the previous week's show and find a song title and artist called Poison and another song called Vogue to go along with the group En Vogue!

I'm halfway up the chart, climbing toward the top with der Shadoe on the countdown from this date in 1990. Now playing: Number 20, Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence", one of my favorite songs of that year and favorite videos of all time.
