Pete,
People have listened to the show since and had negative opinions because of what was written in that book. I’m saying in terms of just the show itself, it was fine for a celebrity fill in appearance. If not for that story, them guest hosting would be viewed largely as one of the following opinions:
“I heard the show, they were ok” “I never knew they hosted” “I forgot they hosted because it isn’t like it was an earth shattering performance”
They weren’t great but the view people have now does their fill in episode itself a disservice.

I'm cheating a little-Listening to AT40 from 8-6-88, but not the full show. I'll catch the first hour + this weekend. I'm listening to the 3 hour version that I recorded from KGOR from 2015.

Not constant, but a "side" show - an ACC marathon of the year-end shows in order from 1978 to 2004, all hosted by Bob Kingsley. Decade-end shows are also included. In the first hour of 1978 now. I'll still listen to the AT40 shows from 1978, and several other random shows.
Next show in the car: AT40 from 8/4/2001.

AT20 (HAC) from 8/1/1998. My then-local station aired AT20 in the mornings, then AT40 in the evenings.

Now it's AT40 from September 22, 2001. Casey mentioned the all-female top 5 as the tease leading into the #1 song from Blu Cantrell.

While many of you have to wait until next weekend to hear it, I'm catching the AT40 8/8/1981 show right now.

^ I'm not sure what that is either...I just might have to listen to the show. A little behind on my 1978 run - got 8/5 this afternoon at home, and on Sunday (now an unexpected day off), 8/12. Just finishing up 8/5/2000 in the car, and I forget what I loaded up next, though I think it's either 2002 or 2003 (8/10 or 8/9). I ignored the 2000s on my recent road trip (listened to the 70s, 80s and 90s) so I'm playing catch-up.

I like “Roll with It” and all but it seems rather odd that of all songs in 1988, that’s one spending 4 weeks at #1.
