Blackbowl: Casey for sure! How he isn't is way beyond me! Paul: Mr. Blue Sky (In a commercial a few years back) www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-aUBso-XuALivin' Thing (Ended the Boogie Nights movie) Also: Hold On Tight, Rock N Roll Is King, Strange Magic, Fire On High, Don't Bring Me Down, Turn To Stone, Sweet Talkin' Woman, Can't Get It Out Of My Head, Xanadu (With ONJ) and Telephone Line are huge and I still hear all by Xanadu on the radio... Another favorite is the instrumental: Daybreaker.

I disagree Paul. ELO is still pretty popular, several songs used in commercials, movies and tv shows. Classic hits formats and classic rock radio plays quite a few of their songs. Its just in the eyes of the halls commitee. Then again, as great as their music is, they sucked live. That's fine. If you notice I'm not critiquing the band. I can't think of anything they've done. I'm sure I'd know stuff if someone told me the name of it or I heard it. But seems if anyone who matters forgot about them (posters thoughts not mine) they aren't as relevant as he claims....at least to me. In the words of Charlie Brown from The Peanuts 1965 TV Christmas special, "Don't you know sarcasm when you hear it?" bestmusicexpert's got a keen eye and saw through it right away!

Uh, ok. Obviously you are an ELO fanboy. We get it, you love them. Anyone who doesn't in your world has no idea what they are talking about because they are the greatest ever. I admit to knowing very little about them. But that alone makes the issue neither here nor there to me. To declare people who matter have forgotten about them also tells you how important they are. I'm listening to shows they were on just a few months ago and have already forgotten about it. Hell, I remember "Heartlight" by Kenny Loggins! I've said all HOFs are a joke in my mind. Not because my favorite people aren't there but because of the tools who vote and make themselves more important than they are. I love baseball, Dale Murphy was one of my favorite baseball players. I think he should be in the HOF, he's not and I doubt he ever will be. How foolish would I be for declaring it a joke just because he's not in? Maybe that's not why you feel it's a joke but seeing as how all you do is go on and on about them it seems that way.

Electric Light Orchestra used the studio as an instrument that I actually prefer similar to The Beatles and Steely Dan, but there's some great live stuff... Zoom Tour Live (2001 Image Entertainment DVD) AKA Electric Light Orchestra Live (2013 Frontier Records CD, 11 song edit) Live - The Early Years (2010 Eagle Rock Entertainment DVD) (Brunel University 1973, Germany 1974 – Rockpalast & London 1976 – Fusion) Live at Wembley 1978 (2006 remastered Eagle Rock Entertainment DVD) Minus backing tapes. The Night the Lights Went On in Long Beach 1974 (1998 Sony Music Entertainment UK CD) Live at Winterland 1976 (1998 Eagle Rock Entertainment CD) Live from Bungalow Palace (2012) Jeff Lynne and Richard Tandy play ELO unplugged.

They vote soon, so I guess I'll give my list: Hall & Oates, Ronstadt, KISS, Deep Purple. These are the ones I think should go in as big a joke as I think the HOF is.

Ugh.... For most of it.
Nirvana over Deep Purple& Yes is a travesty and then over the MANY overlooked artists is idiotic.
At least no rap this year!

A surprising class, but a good class nonetheless. I thought Deep Purple should've been in along with Nirvana, but Kiss won that fan vote & that got them in. I'm fine with Yes not going in. I think the Moody Blues should get in first. I was actually a little surprised that neither NWA or LL Cool J got in. As for the next class, I'm hoping that Deep Purple & Chic both get in. I'm also hoping that Chicago gets in too (Hint! Hint! R&RHOF!).

I long felt the Moody Blues should get in, but now that I really think about it, they don't deserve to be in the R&R Hall of Fame. They are truly excellent musicians, but that's all. Nothing about them really exudes rock 'n' roll.

Moody Blues had SOME that I would figure as rock over anything else. But more pop I'd say. But still a better choice than rap going in! Hell, I'd vote for funk or R&B over rap.

Now that I think about it, Chic really shouldn't be inducted. But Edwards & Rodgers should be a shoo-in as producers since many rock historians revere them more for the work they did outside of the group.
