Since I live in metro Detroit, I have been giving this HD-2 station a listen in my car... and don't ask me why Subarus had HD radios as standard equipment six years ago . This station has gone a little bit deeper in airplay with Christmas songs from The Supremes, James Taylor and Burl Ives that I haven't heard in years ("Silver & Gold", for example). Having said that, in the roughly two hours I was in the car Thursday and Friday, I somehow heard The Carpenters' "Sleigh Ride" twice, and Elvis Presley's "Here Comes Santa Claus" three times! I think that is what gets annoying very quickly about all-Christmas music stations... they need a wider playlist. That’s why I said what I did in the 80s thread about wishing they’d done more than the 4 or 5 Christmas music shows they did and would have done a minimum of 2 new ones each year until the show ended. That’d be a few more years of introducing newer Christmas songs and more stories to tell. There’s no way a staff that came up with 10 stories for Donna Lewis at number 1 and 20 or so for Los Lonely Boys among others couldn’t have come up with a lot for the Holidays.

An article from RadioInsight asking if radio has moved up the unofficial start of the Christmas season, plus a list of stations that have already switched.

^As I post this, Radio-Locator has a dozen stations that have flipped, many of which are also in the RadioInsight article linked above. The local-to-me flipper is WLEV, whose parent Cumulus has at least one property in that list (the country outlet in Green Bay right at the end), but they still cling to a post-Turkey Day switch... dL

Looks like KABQ not doing switch this year. Their main market holiday competitor KMGA got the jump by flippin' yesterday. And questions about Xmas tunes on their FB page have gone unanswered. ...a small return to sanity!

WNSN as of early today, 12AM started airing christmas songs They seem to be airing them solidly now - they must have been sporadic this morning, as at 5:50 (CST), as I was going to work, I heard "Am I Wrong" by Nico & Vinz. EDIT: I just found their playlist - looks like it was 6:00 CST before they started their non-stop holiday programming, because "Am I Wrong" was the last regular song played, at 5:49. Amy Grant's "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" started at 6:07, so there was apparently a long pause between songs - possibly news or explanation/introduction to the Christmas sweep.

Here in Indianapolis, WYXB, B-105.7, switched to all-Christmas music at 8:00 AM today. And, presumably, they won't be carrying AT40, the 80's, until after Christmas. (BTW, earlier this year, the station rebranded itself. It still has basically the same format, but instead of calling itself a "soft rock" station, it has adopted the slogan "The best variety of the 80's, 90's, and today". I guess it finally dawned on the promotions department that it was ludicrous to promote itself as a soft rock station and play songs like "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard. )

WGHN could possibly be added to the list tomorrow based on a post on their Facebook page.

And for stations that haven't flipped to all Christmas music, many by this time are starting to sprinkle in some from time to time, with each week adding more in until around Christmas Eve when it goes full time before the regular format returns.
