Yes but once you see Halloween, you can walk out of the theatre and immediately start singing “It’s the Most Wonderful Time is the Year.”
I am rarely ever in the holiday spirit no matter when music is played. It might help if these songs about cold weather, snow, sledding, and all actually pertained to me.ever. This morning I’ve seen live shots at football stadiums around the country and I see people in coats or bundled up. And here? It’s a high of 82 today. And this is a d**n cold front!

Yeah, at the risk of going too far off topic, I watched my home state Badgers taking on Illinois in blizzard conditions in Madison, while here in the Inland Empire of Southern California it was 88° and sunny!

Sorry. When I lived in Jacksonville it did get cooler and come January would be cold (lows of 20s, highs in the 30s or 40s). It is just so difficult to get into the holidays musically or with TV specials your kids watch when you cannot identify with it in any way. That’s why holiday music stations here make even less sense to me than other places.

Don't live in a 'winter wonderland' either, but it's only about an hour away if I so desire. Just a matter of elevation--go from the 2,400ft valley to the 9,000ft mountaintop.

I can tell you are a weather buff. You remember what the weather was on a day in 1975. I barely remember the weather was like where I am last week.

It's not a AT40 affiliate, but WDQN in Du Quoin, IL is the first station to make the Christmas switch. False alarm. From the same link in my quote above: Didn't another station do the same thing a couple years ago?

If WLIT 93.9 FM Chicago had carried AT40: The 80's instead of WLS 94.7 FM Chicago, that station when it goes all Christmas music would never play AT40: The 80's at all during the Christmas music sweep.

Since I live in metro Detroit, I have been giving this HD-2 station a listen in my car... and don't ask me why Subarus had HD radios as standard equipment six years ago . This station has gone a little bit deeper in airplay with Christmas songs from The Supremes, James Taylor and Burl Ives that I haven't heard in years ("Silver & Gold", for example). Having said that, in the roughly two hours I was in the car Thursday and Friday, I somehow heard The Carpenters' "Sleigh Ride" twice, and Elvis Presley's "Here Comes Santa Claus" three times! I think that is what gets annoying very quickly about all-Christmas music stations... they need a wider playlist.

This Thursday my family and I are going up to Jacksonville. I told my wife how exciting it’ll be since SXM has already moved a Christmas channel to the main satellite and we can listen AAAALLLLLL the way up there and AAAALLLLLL the way home. She just stared darts through me.
Clearly this is not a holiday music for 2 months family.
